Hairy stems a skin irritant
[edit]I find light brushing against the hairy stems of Verbena bonariensis by the back or hands or forearms, say when trying to move it aside to walk through, causes the skin to itch and redden. Other than the normal hayfever, I'm not particularly allergic to anything. I've found little on this other than members of the public also asking if being allergic is common with no good answer.
