On NASA collaboration.
[edit]So far there is no concrete information on collaboration with NASA for proposed Venus orbiter mission. There are no citations in section titled 'Partnership with NASA' but after looking it up the source article suggests telematics module proposal is for second Mars Orbiter project by ISRO and any collaboration on electric propulsion with NASA JPL for Venus orbiter project has been denied by Dept. of Space.[1] [2] [3] So for now I am removing this section. New details from VEXAG2019
[edit]Few presentation slides from VEXAG 2019 on ISRO's Venus Orbiter mission. https://twitter.com/ThePlanetaryGuy/status/1192136731828609025 https://twitter.com/SpacedOutSid/status/1192138230184861696
The presentation document would also be available as reference after few days. Ohsin 20:16, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- VEXAG2019 Presentations are now available, here is one on ISRO's VOM (PDF) Ohsin 07:49, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- VEXAG is a community-based forum to prioritize the research objectives on Venus. I understand that ESA, Japan and Russia also participate in the forums. This has the potential for proposals and collaborations in the future. I would not write in the article that collaboration ISRO-NASA is imminent until announced. - I agree these media coined jingoistic terms are out of hand and all over the place. I suggest we use the term 'Venus Orbiter Mission' which has been used to refer to this proposal in budget and other official documents and was initially the article's title as well before being mislead by click-bait media reports. Popular names should not replace official terms and can be just mentioned as an aside in article if needed. @Hemant Dabral: Ohsin 09:38, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Shukrayaan is the official name of this programme, isn't it? — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 13:49, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- No, recently ISRO Chairman in an interview quite firmly asserted that it is not an official term and they are referring to the the proposed mission simply as 'Mission to Venus'. This is supported by budget documents for year 2017-18 , 2018-19 and DDG 2019-20 but unfortunately the media coined termed has seeped into the system. I was incorrect in saying Venus Orbiter Mission term being in budget I can only find it being used by Principal Investigator of shortlisted payloads [1], [2] and some presentations.
