Sources
[edit]I've done some work, but more needs to be done by someone who can find sources for much of the information. Kevin 11:42, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Taxis
[edit]Some (possibly all) taxis in Malta seem to have plates beginning TAXIM and then 3 digits. Unless these are personalised plates, which I doubt, then these don't fit any of the criteria given in the article. Bazonka (talk) 14:53, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- I haven't seen any in my time in Malta (4 years). Licensed taxi plates are invariably TAXI (number) M. or G for Gozo. Cars dedicated to unofficial car services have plates ending -LY. See my section below Chrismorey (talk) 17:11, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
Special plates
[edit]Malta uses a large range of special letter combinations on number plates for different classes of vehicle. The list given in this document is very incomplete. Transport Malta's current list is:
Even this list does not show the ending -CY used for certain private buses and coaches (perhaps the C stands for Coach).
It might make more sense merely to explain that Malta uses a range of meaningful numbering series and provide a link, since clearly the list has undergone major changes since the article was last updated Chrismorey (talk) 17:07, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
