can anyone define ELECTRIC ACTUATOR???????
Article Title
[edit]Aside from its other issues, this article was misnamed Electric actuator. However, it describes pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical actuators used specifically for valves. The article has been renamed to Valve actuator to more accurately describe the content. Catsquisher (talk) 22:32, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Overly long caption
[edit]The current caption on the first image is "Electric actuator on a valve in a power plant. The electric valve actuator is the horizontal blue cylindrical device mounted above the grey pipe; a black hand-wheel is visible on the actuator, which allows manual positioning of the valve. The blue valve body is visible in-line with the pipe. The valve actuator will turn the butterfly disc of the valve to open and close it, based on electrical signals sent to the actuator. Another valve actuator is visible in the background, with windows to show the valve position.", there appears to be some issues with the two editors on this page right now so I don't want to step in the middle of their war, but can we please make that caption a bit more concise? - So how long is allowed? Must everything in the world be expressed in 140 characters or less? Shouldn't a caption identify what the picture is about? There's a lot of stuff in that picture and someone who didn't already know what a "valve actuator" looks like might have a hard time picking it out of all the other visual clutter in the picture. --Wtshymanski (talk) 22:01, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
- . The caption is overly wordy and could very easily be shortened but because of your aggressive response and attitude you are unwilling to see it. CombatWombat42 (talk) 22:18, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
- So shorten it. It's the encyclopedia everyone can edit, after all. --Wtshymanski (talk) 22:32, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
