[edit]

I strongly disagree with the PROD of this page. As a quick Google search will show, Bellugi satisfies several of the criteria for notability of academics, including:

  • 1.) The person's research has made significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources. (Bellugi's research on the neurological bases of sign language and Williams Syndrome is described in the article; inline refs will be added shortly)
  • 3.) The person is or has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association or a Fellow of a major scholarly society for which that is a highly selective honor (Bellugi is a member of both the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Science, and has been elected to fellowship in the Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association; appropriate categories will be added).

I believe that this is more than sufficient to establish notability. (LMBM2012 (talk) 05:12, 9 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Quite right, so I removed it. Anyone can remove a PROD , including an article creator or subject (article creators can't remove speedies) - so one need not feel hesitance about removing prods, especially in such a clear case.John Z (talk) 08:11, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for removing the PROD from this article and letting me know that I can remove a PROD as an article creator--good to know for future reference (LMBM2012 (talk) 18:50, 10 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]
