Single from Circus

[edit]

See right here. It's an official single. --ĈÞЯİŒ 1ооо 02:40, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate that it was released as a promo track in Australia, but since it isn't recognised as an official single by Spears, her management or Jive, why don't we put it in the same category as tracks like 'Breathe on Me', a promo-only single from In the Zone and 'Anticipating' which was released as a single from Britney in France alone. I agree that this page should definitely exist, but it should be categorized differently. 92.4.209.10 (talk) 00:32, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Australia

[edit]

I'm from Australia, and i never once heard this on radio, never once saw the single in stores (mainly because CD singles aren't sold in 90% of the country anymore). It may have had a little radio play, but I very highly doubt it was a CD release, and there is nothing about it digitally in itunes or anywhere.Billy4kate (talk) 06:40, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, it was not included on The Singles Collection (Deluxe Edition). At most this a promotional single, like Anticipating.

Synthpop

[edit]

Nekesa Mumbi Moody of the Associated Press calls it "synth-centric", and according to Pandora radio, the synthesizer is the "prominent" instrument.

If you read the synthpop article here on wikipedia, it says "the synthesizer is the dominant instrument in synthpop"; just like Pandora radio describes.

And before you say Pandora is unreliable, I think it is very reliable. It is apparent who ever makes the pages KNOWS there music. When you type in a song, for example I typed in "Circus by Britney Spears" It said it would play electropop music and they perfectly described the influences on the station I was on, and it seemed legit to Britney's music.

And also, the Electropop article now redirects to the Synthpop article, they are pretty much the same thing according to consensus.

One more thing; the majoraty of Spears' Bloodshy & Avant produced material is synthpop orientated. Radar, Piece of Me, Toy Soldier, etc are all synthpop orientated.

In the long run, I think it is very safe to say this is an Electropop and Synthpop song. Nickyp88 (talk) 05:00, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The things is that it has to say synthpop. This already happened to me with "Hold It Against Me". "Common sense" is not a source. Xwomanizerx (talk) 05:33, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Did you notice though when someone clicks "Electropop" , it redirects to synthpop? They are the same thing. Common sense is a source actually. On Rihanna's "Only Girl" article, a group of wikipedians came together to decide the song was europop, according to sources they found. even though it didn't say it was specifically europop. They were using common sense. And besides, on the Circus album article, it says: The seventh track, "Unusual You", is a synthpop song, Enough has been said. And I think people who read this expect to accurate information, and sometimes you have to use common sense to get accurate information. Nickyp88 (talk) 05:38, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Your entire arguments is WP:OTHERCRAP. That's it. Electropop is sourced, synthpop is not. Xwomanizerx (talk) 05:41, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Electropop and synthpop are the same thing though according to consenuous. And you aren't using common sense here. Did you read the above statement about Rihanna's Only Girl Article?

On Rihanna's "Only Girl" article, a group of wikipedians came together to decide the song was europop, according to sources they found. even though it didn't say it was specifically europop

And I am very happy for them. They probably couldn't find a specific source for a genre. But we have one here, and it reads Electropop. Xwomanizerx (talk) 05:49, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. And I am presenting you with common sense, Exactly like the wikipedians at the Only Girl article did. According to my common sense, the song is a synthpop song aswell. You are in denial Nickyp88 (talk) 05:52, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
All I see is WP:OTHERCRAP. Good night. Xwomanizerx (talk) 05:54, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Goodnight then. If this is really important to you than I would ask a moderator. I believe this is a relevant enough explantion. Nickyp88 (talk) 06:09, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I would have to side with Womanizer here. There has to be a source clearly stating it, not you matching and chopping words and phrases up. That is original research, aside from the othercrap part.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 06:45, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and by the way, on other Spears articles, the sources say "Synth-orientated beat" when synthpop is listed as a genre. That is permissible but the information I provided supporting my view on this isn't? Nickyp88 (talk) 07:03, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You know what. I'm reading this right now. On the "Womanzier" article it didn't have to say synthpop. On the "Piece of Me" article it didn't have to say synthpop. On the "Radar" article it didn't have to say synthpop. On the "Circus" article it didn't have to say electropop. On the "Only Girl" article it didn't have to say europop. I could go on tbh. With the sources I've found, it's safe to say the song is synthpop aswell. Please see Talk:Only Girl (In the World)#Genres. I have a perfectly good reason and sources to support my edits, just like the users in that talk page did. My information is accurate according to sources. Nickyp88 (talk) 12:00, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why electropop now redirects to synthpop, but since it does, obviously consensus would have been reached that it is a SUB-GENRE or new revival, if you will, of the genre. Changing the genre would be incorrect, as the source STATES that it is electropop. I'm going to go fix the redirect electropop's redirect so it properly goes to the correct section of synthpop. nding·start 13:21, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Unusual You

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Unusual You's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Billboard":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 18:40, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not a single

[edit]

I'm changing it to simply a "song" rather than a single because that tracklist and cover are without a doubt 100% fake. The only place that lists it as a single is australian-charts.com and the other Hung Medien websites, and I've been a regular user on australian-charts.com for about 5 years and I know for a fact that both fake covers and tracklists are added regularly, so it's not a reliable site at all for this aspect (only chart information). charts.org.nz uses the exact same database as australian-charts does (as someone referenced that site on the talk page above) so it has the same information, as do the other Hung Medien websites. And if it really were released in stores it definitely would have charted on the Top 50 ARIA Physical Singles as it only takes 4-5 copies to hit that chart and of course her large fanbase surely would have bought it. If someone can find a credible non-Hung Medien website/online store that lists the CD single information such as musicshop.com.au then I stand corrected, but for the time being it really shouldn't be considered an official single.
