University ratings
(I'm posting this to all articles on UK universities as so far discussion hasn't really taken off on Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities.)
There needs to be a broader convention about which university rankings to include in articles. Currently it seems most pages are listing primarily those that show the institution at its best (or worst in a few cases). See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities#University ratings. External links
I have ejected the links below from the main article as being in violation of WP:EL. If these are refences to contents in the main article, they should be included as such, in a format acceptable to WP:FOOT. Otherwise, they should remain deleted.

- Making A Fresh Start
- New sports academy opens at Hartpury in April 2005.

University of the West of England CEMS
Should this link to University of the West of England CEMS which has an orphan tag? RJFJR (talk) 15:21, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
- That page has been moved as CEMS is now Bristol Institute of Technology. Jezhotwells (talk) 22:23, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Fixing the Template
The template is incredibly messy. Can someone please go through the source and fix the image placement so that the page works again? EnderMB (talk) 22:13, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Right I have fixed that by reordering images and elinating Bristol infobox and placing geocordinates at top. Jezhotwells (talk) 23:10, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. It works well in IE now but still causes problems in Firefox. EnderMB (talk) 21:03, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think the latest fix might be a little better. I wish I better understood how this coding worked. Jezhotwells (talk) 21:35, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Coat of arms
I reverrted a deletion by User:Nomoskedasticity, quote " (rm unsourced fluff)" and cited that section. Jezhotwells (talk) 20:57, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- Great, now there's a source -- what about the notion that it is fluff, i.e. who cares? Nomoskedasticity (talk) 21:44, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- I believe many people are interested in history which is reflected in coats of arms & there is a whole industry around heraldry.— Rod talk 07:07, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
St Matthias caption
The caption has a missing h – but I don't know how to correct it.Bristol filer (talk) 08:25, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for spotting this. I've corrected it. All you need to do is click "edit" and make the change. The picture information is between square brackets [[....]].— Rod talk 08:43, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
Article Restructuring
The article has become slightly disorganised in terms of structure. I've reorganised it in accordance to the guidelines found below:

The West Country Challenge
Would you like to win up to £250 in Amazon vouchers for participating in The West Country Challenge?
The The West Country Challenge will take place from 8 to 28 August 2016. The idea is to create and improve articles about Bristol, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, like this one.
The format will be based on Wales's successful Awaken the Dragon which saw over 1000 article improvements and creations and 65 GAs/FAs. As with the Dragon contest, the focus is more on improving core articles and breathing new life into those older stale articles and stubs which might otherwise not get edited in years. All contributions, including new articles, are welcome though.
Work on any of the items at:
or other articles relating to the area.
There will be sub contests focusing on particular areas:
- Bristol (Day 1-3)
- Cornwall and Scilly (Day 4-6)
- Devon (Day 7-9)
- Dorset (Day 10-12)
- Gloucestershire (Day 13-15)
- Somerset (Day 16-18)
- Wiltshire (Day 19-21)
To sign up or get more information visit the contest pages at Wikipedia:WikiProject England/The West Country Challenge.— Rod talk 16:35, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
Merge of School of Education (UWE)
School of Education (UWE) has no references in independent sources. Unless independent notability can be established, a school within a college should be mentioned in the article about the college/university. MB 14:42, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
- I would agree about the lack of secondary sources for the School of Education, so would support the merger into the general university article.— Rod talk 15:05, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
