School of Music, Theatre and Dance

Why is it that only the School of Music is discussed under the School of Music, Theatre and Dance section? Where is the information about Theatre and Dance? --Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 21:33, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Introduction Section

This needs editing to make it sound less like an ad for the college. It won't help the credibility of the school if it looks like the admissions department wrote the article. Sanstrian (talk) 21:49, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Bell Tower

This should be updated "A new bell tower is also currently under construction at the corner of College Ave. and Spring Garden St., which is expected to be completed by the end of the 2004-2005 academic year." --Emplynx 03:06, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Merovee Philosopher's Guilde

Does anyone know anything about the supposed Merovee Philosopher's Guilde?

I've researched this and the only references that I can find for it are on the Secret Societies page and its copies on various websites. It's merely listed as an example of a secret society.

I've attended UNCG for undergraduate and graduate school and have never heard of this supposed society. Does anyone have any evidence that this "secret" is a reality?

I am also very curious as to the origin of the the Secret Societies page here in Wiki land. It appears to have been copied to or from several websites.

FYI - for all of you playing at home, Merovee is better known as Merovech, Meroveus II, Merowig, etc. See Merowig.

Not much is known about him other than the legend that he is the offspring of a sea monster and a human. MiKellie 21:11, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

Added "Residences" Section

Hi folks,

Just FYI, I added a new section "Residences", so that I'd have an appropriate place to put a link to Residential College that someone dropped inappropriately on the Residential colleges page. I'm leaving it to all the UNC-Greensboro fans to complete the list of residences, and to create a page for UNC-Greensboro's Residential College, University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Don't you just love helpful people who create more work for you to do? :-) JDLH | Talk 17:12, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

The Rock/The "Rawk"

This particular tradition is known on campus by both "The Rock" and "The Rawk" as seen in the UNCG Posting Policy. This can also be seen very easily and clearly if one were to search the UNCG website for the word "rawk." I added a mention of The Rock being "sometimes referred to as 'The Rawk'" to the article. Fair use rationale for Image:Uncg spartans.jpg

Image:Uncg spartans.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:07, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Microeconomics 201

The college has developed an educational video game, Microeconomics 201, as part of the ECON 201 course. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 08:53, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Official name

The official names of the schools in the UNC system are set by the North Carolina General Assembly in Section 116‑4 of the North Carolina General Statutes. "The" is clearly not capitalized and is therefore only used as an article and not part of the official name. The individual school gets to determine the official abbreviation, but not the official name. Therefore, this link is incorrect that the official name is "The University of North Carolina at Greensboro". Rreagan007 (talk) 14:50, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

According to the Code of the University's Board of Governors, which is the organization that sets the names of the schools, the The is capitalized. The state constitution also uses the capital convention. 24.148.246.162 (talk) 04:41, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Again, the legislature designates the official name, and the Code of the Board of Governors is clearly contradicted by the NCGS. The state constitution does use the term "The University of North Carolina" but that isn't the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. That is either referring to UNC-Chapel Hill or the UNC system. Rreagan007 (talk) 14:53, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

UNCG no longer uses the "at" in the name. Kbowers95 (talk) 14:51, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Lloyd International Honors College

Why does "Main article: Lloyd International Honors College" link back to the top of the article?--NYMFan69-86 (talk) 19:10, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

The stand-alone page for that school does not show that it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Rather than nominate it for deletion I redirected it here (see WP:BRANCH for additional details). The most recent version prior to redirecting it is here. There may be material in that version which can be merged into this article, particularly into the section University of North Carolina at Greensboro#School of Music, Theatre and Dance.

If this school does meet Wikipedia's notability requirements, go ahead and revert my redirect, but do so only if you will be improving the article within the next few days so that it clearly demonstrates that the school itself meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines, independent of is parent university. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:18, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Denied Changes - Outdated/incorrect information needs editing

This entire page is severely out of date and most sections need editing/updating. I proposed edits that are both factual and backed by sources, however they have all been denied. What is the further process for this? These edits need to be made if this page is to be of use to anyone.

Major changes include, but are not limited to: -Logo change -Color change -University name change -Outdated statistics and numbers that need updating -New programs of study -Removal of inactive organizations and clubs -Outdated rankings that need updating -Tense needs to be changed for events that have occurred in the last 5 years -History section needs to be updated -Women's Basketball coach has changed -Blue Crew is not longer active - now named G-Squad -Many other edits that need to be made

Again, the factual edits that have been denied need to be made to this page. If not, this page is incorrect in many of its claims about the University. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.13.249.80 (talk) 16:21, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

Administrative Staff statistic

The claim that a university has almost a 1:2 staff to student ratio is highly improbable. The source cited from 2009 does not match the cited article.

Says the total number of employees is around 2,400 including 1,000 faculty. So that means the non-teaching staff is closer to 1,000 than 10,000 StreamingRadioGuide (talk) 17:07, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
