Lower School Information
[edit]It appears that this article mainly focuses on the Hunting Valley campus (upper school). I think that there should be some more information on the lower school, so if someone could help with this it would be greatly appriciated. --HBot3 21:39, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

March 2007
[edit]Hello all, and thank you for contributing to this school site. I'm part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Schools/Assessment team, and I'm reviewing this page, I'm currently giving it a grade of B on the Wikipedia 1.0 Assessment Scale and an importance of Medium on the this importance scale.
My reasoning is as follows: This article has lots of information about the school but reflects a biased WP:POV and needs some reorganization and some copy editing to meet Wikipedia's WP:NPOV standards. Fair use rationale for Image:USseal.jpg

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. - It should be lower case unless clearly used as a proper noun (eg. "Lower School", "Upper School", "University School"), much as in the school's own site. I've amended usage accordingly. --Mr R 11:50, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Geographic Coordinates
[edit]A simple way to get geographic coordinates is to go on google earth, find University school, than see the geographic coordinates. (but they might be confusing) also, the link at the bottom referring the google maps of university school is eǣither outdated or of a wrong school, because that picture is incorrect. however, a beter picture can be found on google earth. - I think that because there are to campusses, that you culd figure out by going that on a spot between those campuses exactly and you figgure out the cordinates they then you meet on google Earth to decide where tha spot is and then you go and that you use that spot. I think it is dificult thouhg, becuse you can't provide a good linke biecause then you can't take a picture of the google Earth screen or it wont turn out rite or their are copywright isues with google or you have to download the google Earth and then it mite not be compatatable witth the new vista or the cool macbook air central processing units. Notable Alumni
[edit]Why was this section all-but-deleted? US has many notable allumni, but currently the only one listed is a teacher who just happened to pitch for the Detroit Tigers a long, long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away?). For one, his son Michael Seelbach currently has a lead role in the Chicago production of Wicked. I understand that it was often vandalized by students of the school, but does that merit the almost complete deletion of it? - Another editor deleted them because none of the people on the list had a ref to prove they were from the school, and by the looks of the list, it was ridiculous. He decided to remove it until refs could be found. Check the history...I think he had something about it in the edit summary. SpencerT♦C 22:14, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

This is most likely not going to get solid cites, as graduate lists aren't publicly available. I can self verify 2, because they graduated with me, but that's not a solid ref. reverting
[edit]Smackbox, Rich, Spencer et al. Respectfully, please let us know what University School needs to do so you can stop reverting our school's Wikipedia page. There are descriptions (such as "the Greater Cleveland Ohio area" that we want to use - why are these changes being reverted? Similar, "Other Championships" is an appropriate heading for Tennis and Lacrosse because these were not earned under OHSAA. The list goes on and on... Please advise what is needed on the webpage to prevent the constant editing/reverting and would really appreciate wiki-guidance/direction so our (my) efforts are not reverted every time we (I) make them - I am personally looking at other sites (like the University School of Nashville) and am getting a better sense of (what I think) is the preferred structure for detailing things such as a school's mission statement (I used the formatting that is currently on the University School of Nashville when putting our mission statement on the University School Wikipedia page). coordinates - misleading
[edit]I understand the importance of coordinates, Spencer, but (as you know) we have 2 campuses. Is there a way to show the coordinates for BOTH the US Hunting Valley Campus and the US Shaker Heights Campus in the info box? - KCPleasant University School Marketing Department

Undue Weight Tag

Hair-cutting incident

Although indeed tragic, I doubt this qualifies as one of the 4 or 5 milestone events in the school's history, in a short article. - @John from Idegon: and other editors I agree that the paragraph relating to this hair cutting tragedy should be cut because, despite the tragedy of suicide, this matter cannot be connected to the school. The author of the cited op-ed, Barry Shlachter, writes of an incident at the school, in which a boy Steve Andrews had his hair cut by upper classmen. Shlachter writes: "I don't know how much, or how little, the incident affected him, or if the nonpunishment of the graduating seniors added to what he might have felt. We never discussed it. But I sensed that a spark inside him died." In fact, it was only after Andrews left US, "attended Shaker Heights High School, then briefly went to college out West before dropping out...received his draft notice, and the day or so before he was to report to the Army, he took a pistol from his home and put an end to his young life." Despite having cited this information, it cannot be tied directly to the school. I attended US and was looking for something on their Wikipedia page, happened upon this, and decided to read further (as Wikipedia causes many people to do). Upon reading the article I realized that it cannot be directly connected to the school. In fact, Schlacter says this himself writing: "There is no way of knowing if the bullying contributed to Steve's downward spiral and suicide. While I cannot prove a connection, my heart links them." - In addition, dead link or not, the source has the same author. The source that does work is an op-ed. There are lots of events in the school's history that are of real importance that are not mentioned here. This suicide, as mentioned in Shlachter's article is not related to the school but for Sclachter's "heart link[ing] them." Andrews committed suicide years after the school, so it cannot be said that the two are connected. This event is and was not a major event in school history. Just because there has been inaction by editors does not mean the information is correct, nor does it mean it isn't urgent. As well, verifiability is based upon whether reliable sources exist, rather than the state of sourcing in articles and while there is actually quite a lot of true and sourceable information out in this world, it does not mean that it belongs on Wikipedia. This information, taken from an op-ed, is sourceable and possibly true, but is a stretch of the truth per the author's claims/beliefs and nothing more. The author cannot prove the suicide to be a result of University School, thus it cannot be considered a major school event. Should there be more substantial coverage on the issue other than Sclachter's coverage, then it may be notable, but until then there is no proof that Andrews suicide was a result of any bullying at school and there is no proof that the school drastically changed its disciplinary policies thereafter.Aeroplanepics0112 (talk) 22:08, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
