- Lead feels a little short for this article length, two paras would suffice.
- Opening sentence is short, perhaps include there when' it happened as well.
- "selection to select" repetitive.
- "with 4 songs" four.
- " radio semi-final" what's one of those?
- Precious (group) not Precious (band).
- fifth/12th -> fifth/twelfth or 5th/12th. I prefer the former.
- "at that time the second-worst result" position-wise.
- "in 1957, competing in all" too many run-ons, perhaps "in 1957 and had competed in all"
- Bucks Fizz doesn't need disambiguation.
- "For the 1998 contest," perhaps make it clear that you're talking about the previous year's competition.
- "national final, The Great British Song Contest 1999." pop a ref at the end.
- "The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) organised" you mentioned the BBC in the previous section.
- "1999. The Great British Song Contest was" overlinked.
- "followed a ... contests: following" followed/following repetitive.
- "Over 840 songs..." More than.
- "BASCA" but you never use the abbreviation.
- ""Over 21,000 votes ..." More than.
- The table captions don't really tell those who need it what's being presented in the tables.
- Row scopes could be included too.
- "broadcast on BBC One and" overlinked.
- ""by Ulrika Jonsson.[8][11] Jonsson" repetitive.
- Sortable tables with names normally sort by surname.
- Place col seems to sort three ways.
- "The group also ... The group was also..." repetitive.
- "Jerusalem, Israel on" comma after Israel.
- "was assigned to perform at position five," no need for "to perform at".
- ""with Terry Wogan providing commentary for BBC One and Ken Bruce on BBC Radio 2." all overlinked.
- "Below is a breakdown..." we don't really write like this, we just talk about the subject, not stuff like "in the table below" etc.
- "determined the UK's points" do you mean determined the UK's votes?
- "Points awarded to the United Kingdom[29]" table doesn't have row/col scopes.
- Likewise the "Points awarded by the United Kingdom[29]" table.
- Lots of spaced hyphens in the refs, should be en-dashes. Check others.
- Ref 5, multiple page ref needs en-dash, not hyphen in page range. Check others.
- What makes "next-episode.net" a reliable source?
- Ref 17, 33, discogs is considered unreliable per WP:RSP.
- You don't need to keep abbreviating EBU in the refs.
- Newspapers like The Daily Telegraph need to be in italics.
That's all I see on a first pass. On hold. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 13:13, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. I believe I have now covered all the points above, including tweaks to language, changes to sources where necessary, and improvements to the table with scoping. I've added colscopes to all tables and rowscopes to tables where I believe it makes sense to include these. I've also added sortname functionality where appropriate, for all songwriters and those artists where a full name is used, with groups/mononymous artists not included. Please let me know if I've missed anything above, or if you have any further queries that I can help resolve. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 18:11, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, I think that's a decent job, well done. So I'm promoting. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 09:19, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
