Neutrality
[edit]This article seems to be written by the subject himself or someone close to him, or paid by him, to promote him with vain peacock type promotion. It is not at all acceptable by Wikipedia standards and should be reviewed by neutral editors/admins and cut/edited drastically, and made more objective and balanced. Please also check the refs/citations at the end, as some are suspect , or dead links. I would once again remind all new editors that Wikipedia is not a place to advertise or promote yourself , it is a serious encyclopedia. If you want to promote yourself, please make your own website or make a page on Facebook or some such media. Thanks 39.54.114.88 (talk) 20:33, 19 April 2016 (UTC)Col (r) Mumtaz Ali Khan, Pakistan
- I checked the references/citations. Includes Forbes, NPR, MIT tech review, Slate, Economist etc. ! Which references are "suspect or broken" ?? Dr. Umar Saif is a well-known person in Pakistan, with many awards to his name. Copying the list of accolades from the page at the bottom of this response. Not sure what "col (r) Mumtaz Ali Khan" with an anonymous IP address did not find "serious" in the encyclopedia.

Recent edits
[edit]I've restored the templates as they still apply: the language of the article is not neutral, there are problems with the sources and the conflict of interest has not been resolved. Many single-purpose accounts making the same edits do not inspire confidence that no conflict of interest is at work. freshacconci talk to me 15:01, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
- Have you noticed the recent edits? Several edits have been made by several editors to address NPOV issues and improve copy editing. Notice the recent edits by Noah Kastin. I also checked for any single source edits. To the contrary, recent edits have been made by 18 different editors. Most of the biography content seems to be from a publicly available bio. I don't see any COI or NPOV issues, especially after major recent edits. Removing the tags now. If you still have an issue please talk here rather than applying the tags again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephen547 (talk • contribs) 14:08, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- That's not how it works. None of those issues have been fixed. The NPOV issues definitely remain and there has been no resolution to COI issues. One editor did some copyediting, so that template was removed. The majority of the edits have been done from WP:SPA accounts and few have been actual improvements or legitimate attempts to address the issues. That points to sockpuppetry and editor(s) with a clear COI. Do not remove the templates again. They are there for other editors, those not affiliated with the subject, to find the article and make improvements. Your constant removal is disruptive and you've been warned repeatedly. You only edit at this article and I use that term loosely as you have done little actual editing. Please read WP:SOCK and WP:COI both of which probably apply. freshacconci (✉) 14:30, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, and thank you for pointing out that much of the content is from a "publicly available bio" (the "seems" part is funny, though). That points to copyright violations and an initial google search shows that much of this article has been copypasted from elsewhere. freshacconci (✉) 14:34, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- You have some real issues kiddo. Find something real to do, rather than spending all your life in being pedantic on forums, wikis etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephen547 (talk • contribs) 17:55, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

Complex edit: 3/19/17
[edit]This is written as an edit summary for the edit made to this page at 07:48, March 19, 2017, UTC (made by me).
- Fixed structural, punctuation, grammatical, whitespace, ambiguity, and redundancy errors.
- Tried to fix NPOV, delete irrelevant bits, and fix prose style.
- Added an explanatory comment, as well as "who", "where", “which” and "citation needed” tags.
- Note: I left some incorrectly formatted references due to difficulty finding good names for them.

Copyrighted material
[edit]This article will need a major overhaul. One of the COI/possible sockpuppet SPAs inadvertently informed me above that the article is from a "publicly available bio". I did some quick google searches and it looks like much of this article has been copypasted from more than one website. I haven't been able to determine if these are mirror sites or if this article copied from other sites. That will need to be determined but if there are multiple copyright issues, much of this article will need to be scrapped. As it stand at this point, the article is in terrible shape, the language is not neutral, many of the sources are questionable, and there's a clear case of COI going on with multiples SPAs. Editors not affiliated with the subject are invited to weigh in/help out freshacconci (✉) 14:39, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Copy edit
[edit]@Saqib: and others. I have started a copy edit. It will take me several run throughs of the article. Let me know here if you have any queries. Gog the Mild (talk) 14:44, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Gog the Mild: Sure. --Saqib (talk) 14:47, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Is Saif the advisor to the chief minister, or one of several?
- Do we know in which year Saif was invited to head PITB? Gog the Mild (talk) 15:16, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- He is one of several advisors. As per this reference, Saif was places in the TR35 in year 2011 and caught the attention of the Chief Ministe. The same year he became head of the PITB. --Saqib (talk) 15:30, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Saqib: Well prompted. I have had a second run through. Let me know if you have any comments or queries. The article states "developed a smartphone-based early epidemic warning system to curb the outbreaks of dengue fever". I am not sure about the use of "to curb". Maybe "to assist medical teams in curbing..." or similar? Gog the Mild (talk) 11:13, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
- Go ahead and change the wording as you like. Also I'm curious if such a mention is even warranted in the bio? Same goes for some non-notable projects Saif founded such as SCI, Plan 9. --Saqib (talk) 11:32, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
- They seem notable enough to me. In Saif's case his overall notability seems to be the sum of a number of individually less notable activities and achievements. As a copy editor I try to be neutral, but as an ordinary editor I would argue to keep both in, especially the first.

- "Secretary IT" is such poor English as to be improbable. The source doesn't seem very reliable and I can find no mention of this, or even of the position, on the official website, so I have deleted it. (I think they mean advisor to the CM with special emphasis on IT matters, which is, IMO, already implied in the article.)
- Getting close to done now. Gog the Mild (talk) 17:55, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- I'm fine with removal of secretary IT part. Please see if the lead needs to be a little trimmed down. --Saqib (talk) 18:02, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- Are you done @Gog the Mild: --Saqib (talk) 10:13, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- A couple of last minute thoughts - feel free to revert - and yes. All done. Gog the Mild (talk) 12:21, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
