Dates given previously are clearly not supported in official registration data. The yacht is shown as Siele owned by French in the 1939 register. A smaller yacht, named Sea Wolf, is shown on page 480 of that register. The 1936 date in cites using that date is somewhat understandable. Someone looking for Seawolf, properly Sea Wolf and Robert H. Wolfe without paying close attention to official numbers and other registration data might conclude inclusion in a 1936 register indicated sale of Siele that year. The references Historical Collections of the Great Lakes: Siele and World War II U.S. Navy Vessels in Private Hands are supported by registry data. No 1940 registry is available; however, the 1941 register has in the managing owners section the brief note that Wolfe owns Sea Wolf formerly Siele with all identification attached.
