Iran

[edit]

I think we should mention that Iran is on the woman's rights council. Mr Reading Turtle (talk) 19:55, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism - new attempt

[edit]

in my opinion a more appropriate formulation would read like (pls include links)

In an emergency United Nations Security Council meeting held on Nov 22, 2023 Israel's Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan harshly criticized UN Women for its malicious disregard of the rape and murder of Israeli women by Hamas terrorists [1] posting that "almost 50 days have passed since the terrible massacre in which Israeli girls were brutally raped and sexually assaulted, but UN Women is silent. For UN Women, Israeli women are not women and this organization does not protect them." [2] Fazhbr (talk) 22:09, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Fazhbr "malicious disregard", "harshly", "terrible massacre", "brutally", "are not women" are all forms of puffery which should be avoided. At this point it does not show a neutral point of view, which makes it unfit for inclusion. And that's ignoring any consideration of sourcing/original research. —Panamitsu (talk) 22:18, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Reverted to an earlier version of criticism section. Appears to better fit and also avoids "malicious disregard", "harshly", "terrible massacre", "brutally", "are not women" which seemed to have been added later. Homerethegreat (talk) 15:57, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed language was very NPOV, I went over it now, can you please tell me if it is now satisfactory? Homerethegreat (talk) 15:58, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I meant very POV Homerethegreat (talk) 15:58, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Homerethegreat Hi Homere, I also went over it recently for more neutrality. I think it's more neutral now and I added sources according to RSP.
Hope it suits. Chavmen (talk) 12:23, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also added a sentence to the lede. I do think the criticism section could be cut back - it's quite repetitive. Chavmen (talk) 12:27, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see the sentence, looks adequate (I saw you used the word ;) ). Not certain criticism section needs to be so large. Homerethegreat (talk) 08:52, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, it's very large for one specific criticism. I can try culling back some repetition. Chavmen (talk) 09:04, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it might be a good idea :). Well done for all the effort. Homerethegreat (talk) 09:10, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think I will delete this sentence @Homerethegreat "During the attack, 1,200 Israelis were killed and at least 240 were taken hostage. Hamas terrorists raped, sodomized, sexually assaulted, murdered, beheaded, and mutilated women and children, which was evidenced in interrogations of captured Hamas members, Hamas footage, and the testimony of witnesses".
Mainly because there is a link to the Sexual and Gender Based violence in this section as a subheading. Chavmen (talk) 10:02, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please check that I removed content that was repetitive in nature along with weasel words and puffery. Chavmen (talk) 10:18, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
