Tua
[edit]Tua's religious beliefs are lds. He is thinking about going on a mormon mission. Thriftss (talk) 05:18, 9 January 2018 (UTC

change "game winning touchdown pass" to "after taking a 16-yard-loss sack on first down responded on the following play by connecting with fellow true freshman Devonta Smith for a 41-yard score. The touchdown pass gave the Crimson Tide a 26-23 win and the 2018 National Title." 73.67.222.221 (talk) 06:02, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

I think that edit adds to the article. Adds more detail to exactly who this is and why he is important. ItsJacobee666 (talk) 09:51, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Article implies this is the first time he ever played. Rather, he played on occasion throughout the season.
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. Sakura CarteletTalk 21:28, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
Left-handed
[edit]I disagree that this should be considered trivia (in the lead). Left-handed quarterbacks is something rare enough that it should be brought up, not to mention he only throws the ball left-handed and is right-handed otherwise. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 04:20, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Tua was named Dolphins' starter in 2020, not 2021
[edit]The article states, "Tagovailoa shared playing time with Ryan Fitzpatrick during his rookie season before being named the fulltime starter in 2021."
This is inaccurate for a couple of reasons;
Tagovailoa was the starter beginning in 2020, not in 2021 as the Wikipedia article currently states. Fitzpatrick was the official starter for the first six games of the 2020 season. Afterward, Tagovailoa was named the official starter of the Dolphins in Week 8 of the 2020 season and Fitzpatrick was named the backup for the rest of the 2020 season. This Sport Illustrated online article clearly states Tagovailoa became the starter in 2020 and Fitzpatrick became the backup. https://www.si.com/nfl/2020/10/20/tua-tagovailoa-named-starting-quarterback-dolphins
As to the future 2021 season, Tagovailoa has not officially been named the starter. The starting lineup has not been determined by head coach Flores.
Below is the change I made to the page to reflect the correct situation, but it was reverted by another user to incorrect information.
"Tagovailoa shared playing time with Ryan Fitzpatrick during his rookie season. Tua was named the Dolphins' starter as of Week 8 of the 2020 season. [1]
I provided citations to corroborate my edit. I do not see citations for the current, incorrect statement. Thanks :) Gridiron Steamroller (talk) 21:09, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
- We do not need to note the exact week he started. He was also pulled from games and/or benched several times after his first start. If you want to get rid of the "before being named the fulltime starter in 2021" statement even though he obviously is then fine. It would just be changed later anyway. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 05:04, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
- The statement that Tua & Fitz shared time in 2020 was not removed and was never a point of contention. The aim of the revision was to have the paragraph reflect that Tua was made starter in 2020, not 2021. I'll make the change. Cheers. Gridiron Steamroller (talk) 12:27, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

Better Medical Language around 2022 September head trauma
[edit]The article currently describes Tua as producing the "fencing response" after hitting the ground, but more accurate would be "decorticate posturing", indicated by the flexion at the arms and wrists. Should this be changed? KaerazaruHibi (talk) 11:12, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- unfortunately adding that just based on personal analysis would violate the original research policy, since the yahoo sports citation describes it as a fencing response, although if you can find a reliable source putting it as decorticate posturing then you're welcome to add it 208.118.175.250 (talk) 16:47, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
Pro Bowl 2022
[edit]2022 Pro Bowl should be added, because he technically earned pro bowl honors according to the NFL as an alternate, he just isn't playing. https://www.nfl.com/news/dolphins-qb-tua-tagovailoa-remains-in-concussion-protocol-won-t-participate-in-p "Tagovailoa earned his first Pro Bowl honor after taking Miami to the playoffs for the first time in six years." - They aren't officially counted as Pro Bowlers by the NFL unless they go to the game. Tons of people turn down invites. And he was just an alternate. There are seventh alternates and stuff like that if you keep going down the line. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:17, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
