[edit]This article could benefit from some simple diagrams showing what the players' set-ups and movements would look like. Willbyr 19:19, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
There are diagrams in the external links. I assume we could create a few in MS PAINT?--Jaisonline 20:33, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Discussion around the deletion of this article
[edit]I read the article. It is an accurate depiction of the Triangle offense in basketball. Sure, it can be rearranged and cleaned up. However, this alone shouldn't be the basis for deletion. The Triangle offense is popular and players (regardless of age and gender) will read this article for insight. This offense is commonly discussed on TV and radio because of the popularlity of Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, etc...
Deleting this entry would be like deleting the West Coast offense entry. --Jaisonline 20:40, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Phil Jackson's connection with the Triangle Offense
[edit]The fact that Phil Jackson's teams have never missed the NBA Playoffs when using the triangle offense's full arsenal shouldn't be the basis for arguing about deleting this article. I think this information about Jackson's teams is a perfect example of how effective the triangle offense has been for him and Tex Winter, Jackson's assistant and the mastermind behind the offense itself. Phil Jackson's Win Total Means What About the Triangle?
[edit]Why is half the article about Phil Jackson's and Michael Jordan's basketball records? (Oh, it's part of WikiProject Chicago!) Yes, of course he should be mentioned and this is a nice subject to have in the encyclopedia, but the article should be about the system, right? It seems more like a defense of the subject by fans instead of an explanation of the subject by experts. Please explain how the triangle offense works and explain it's evolution, if anyone here knows how. For example, were there any notable uses in college or high school? 59.173.228.230 (talk) 11:24, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
The significance of Jackson's win totals and Jordan's achievements
[edit]I understand why some people reading this particular article may be a little confused about why Phil Jackson's win totals and Michael Jordan's achievements are listed on this page in relation with the triangle offense. However, this will attempt to show 2 things: 1. It tells how Michael Jordan blossomed from a multi-talented superstar into quite possibly the greatest player in NBA history. 2. It explains how effectively Phil Jackson was able to utilize the triangle offense during his long tenure as an NBA head coach. Mr. Brain (talk) 01:02, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- "1." should be on Michael Jordan's page, not the page for the Triangle Offence, and "2" should be on Phil Jackson's page, not the page for the Triangle Offence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.34.28.208 (talk) 10:14, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yep, this just reads like a Phil Jackson resume. It's ridiculous.--Chimino (talk) 14:38, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
