Confusion
[edit]"both France and China claimed the sovereignty over the territories which will be."
This isn't English. It's also unclear what it was meant to say.--GwydionM (talk) 15:38, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Annam
[edit]Annam (Chinese Province) only exist from 679 to 938 (see Annam). Although many countries up to the 19th century called Vietnam as Annam but in name only; Vietnam wasn't part of the Qing Empire at the time. Kinh Duong Vuong (talk) 21:36, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- Why, then, does the article say "It was to remain Annam for the next 600 years, seemingly living up to its name"? From 679 to 938 is only 259 years. You're not making sense. Badagnani (talk) 21:46, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- Tự Đức was an emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty, so I removed Annam. Thanks for the explanation. Badagnani (talk) 21:48, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
