FE, GE and GTE heads

[edit]

I removed this block from the intro:

The S block has been fitted with three different kinds of cylinder heads, the FE, GE and GTE. The majority of the S engines produced are of the FE or GE variety, which are naturally aspirated and tuned by Yamaha Motor Company Ltd.. The only S engine to be fitted the turbocharged GTE cylinder head is the 3S-GTE.

This refers only to the 3S DOHC heads. The designations FE, GE and GTE (among many others) refer to engine configurations, not specifically to the heads. There are vast differences between early and late 3S-GE engines, heads on early 3S-GE engines are much more like those on early 3S-GTE engines than those on BEAMS engines for instance. -- Karldoh 11:44, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the majority of the changes, if not all of them were done to the heads though, the BEAMS 3SGE engines are different because they have VVT-i which is in the head..

also, stop removing and destroying this article! PseudoKirby (talk) 02:15, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean, most if not all changes were done to the heads? There have been so many different 3S-GE motors sold worldwide, they have different cam profiles, valve materials, don't tell me they didn't make major changes for the RWD models I'll lol. What you think doesn't matter here, go get a blog if you want to spread your (incorrect) opinions. Karldoh (talk) 04:32, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Twin cam 3s-ge?

[edit]

I can't seem to figure this one out - according to the wiki page, the only 2. gen. MR2 to be fitted with a twin camshaft engine is the automatic transmission MR2 with the 3s-fe. However, my -92 gti with a stock 3s-ge clearly has two camshafts ("twin cam" is even written across the engine). What gives? Is the 3s-ge not a twin camshaft engine? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knirkefri (talkcontribs) 08:36, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure where you are reading your information. On this page the MR2 is mentioned as having the 3S-GE (among other engines). On the Toyota MR2 page the second gen MR2 is also mention as having the 3S-GE. Could you be more specific about which part of the article has a problem. Also, different countries/markets have different engine options. Which country/market is your '92 MR2? (remembering that Wikipedia uses internationally understood calendar years, not US specific model years, so the US '92 model year would be the 1991 calendar year).  Stepho  talk  12:59, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, this is only for talking about how to make this Wikipedia article better. You will need to look for help on one of the many Camry forums.  Stepho  talk  08:39, 30 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
