Can someone please revert this page to the right version? It shouldn't look like the way it is now, plus the Toonz Premium version was only released first (as Toonz, and then Toonz Harlequin) and doesn't use Qt coding, and that OpenToonz isn't solely developed by Dwango but a collaboration with Digital Video. 109.228.224.250 (talk) 21:11, 4 January 2017 (UTC) 109.228.224.250 (talk) 21:11, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. Sir Joseph (talk) 21:22, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I already mentioned the changes, here. 105.67.6.57 (talk) 21:40, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You mean the version that had a so hostile edit summary by you that admins had to remove it? Well, no. Here are the reasons in detail:

 • Premium came fist: There is no denying what came first (and the article is very clear about that) but today OpenToonz is the baseline version, available to the broad public. Premium is an extension of the OpenToonz base. Therefore the infobox should come first.
 • Premium doesn't use Qt: Not a single credible reference supports that claim WRT the current Premium version. References say that Premium is an extended version of OpenToonz, they say that OpenToonz is based on Ghibli's Toonz and uses Qt. Not a single reference says that Digital Video removes all Qt-based code for the Premium version (which would be totally illogical anyway).
 • Developed in collaboration with Digital Video: The release announcement says that Digital Video develops Premium – it does not talk about further continued involvement in the Open version. The Github committer statistics available at https://github.com/opentoonz/opentoonz/graphs/contributors also don't support that claim. The main developer after the initial code drop is shun-iwasawa who has a "dwango_opentoonz_plugins" repository under his profile. Clicking through the contributor profiles, not a single major contributor has Digital Video listed as employer. At least one has Dwango explicitly mentioned. As for the others: Most have no corporate affiliation listed, so the original announcement stands, although a significant number of people have Japanese background which at least makes it more likely that they are affiliated with a Japanese company (Dwango) and not an Italian company (Digital Video). The About and FAQ pages on toonzpremium.com don't even claim an involvement with OpenToonz development. The FAQ does say that Toonz Premium ships features that were removed from OpenToonz, affirming that Premium is an extension of OpenToonz.

It's not my fault you provided not a single reference for your claims. That is on you, same with hostility towards several Wikipedia authors (here and other articles). --KAMiKAZOW (talk) 20:08, 5 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Listen UP here, YOU'RE the one who BUTCHERED this article in the FIRST place, so it's TOO your fault, not mine. I want it back to the way it used to be. If you don't believe me, then JUST WRITE A NEW INFOBOX FOR THE SOFTWARE IN GENERAL AND ADD THESE CHANGES BACK. 103.252.202.182 (talk) 23:47, 5 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
“Listen UP here” – You're not in any position to make demands. You're lucky admins only protected the pages and removed your attacks. If you caught them on a bad day, you'd probably already be banned.
“I want it back to the way it used to be.” – You mean the state that earned this article the Advert template? No. I believe it was you who added blatant advertising like this. One could get the impression you are affiliated with Digital Video and try to abuse Wikipedia for promotional purposes (not allowed, in case that wasn't clear already).
I suggest you walk a step back and learn how Wikipedia works, what it is and what it’s not. Although it’s pretty hilarious how you even revert your own edit and then shout at yourself two minutes later for doing so, that is not beneficial to Wikipedia. --KAMiKAZOW (talk) 03:09, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the edit semi-protected template. Consensus is not there for this change to be made at this point. -- Dane talk 00:55, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. Change this in the Toonz Premium infobox back from:
 • | programming language = C++ (Qt)
To:
 • | programming language = C++

Change this description back from:

Add this section back on the bottom of the description:
 • ==Company overview== :"Digital Video was founded in 1981 in Rome (Italy) and has focused on its present mission since 1993. Its focus is to develop multi-platform graphics applications for the professional market and its primary activity is the development of Toonz, an application for the cartoon animation industry. Move this infobox back to the "Open sourcing" section and change it too:
 • {{Infobox software :| name = OpenToonz :| developer = Dwango and Digital Video S.p.A. :| released = 2016 :| latest release version = 1.1.2 :| status = Active :| programming language = C++ (Qt) :| operating system = Linux, macOS, Microsoft Windows :| platform = x86, x86-64 :| genre = 2D animation software :| license = Open Source (BSD license) :| website = http://opentoonz.github.io/e/

Suggested Edits

[edit]

After reviewing the article, I have a few suggestions for edits which could be made to improve it, but it is under a semi-protected status, so I will discuss them here.

 • As in Adobe Animate, formatting the version history via a table could improve the readability and cleanliness of the article. In addition, information which should probably be under a "History" section is listed inside of the details for the releases instead. The usage of Toonz to create the animation Balto is not directly relevant to the changes made in the 3.0 release, for instance, so it should be in a different section.
 • Consider cleaning up the "Usage" section. Many items listed lack citations, and "For films and TV"/"For video games" should probably be changed to "Films and TV"/"Video Games" for consistency with the rest of Wikipedia.
 • Because the reader won't understand the functionality of the software beyond it being a 2D animation program without reading the version history, it could be helpful to specify in brief what Toonz is capable of in the summary portion of the article.

 Not done. Posts on social media are not reliable sources, and should not be used to expand an article. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 00:19, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Name of the article

[edit]

Shouldn't the name of the article be changed into Opentoonz? So many sources are reffering to it as Opentoonz.
