Gold/Platinum certification

[edit]

According to http://www.riaa.com/gp/database/default.asp some of the gold/platinum certifications listed here are incorrect... should be as follows

  • Born to Mack - Gold
  • Life Is... Too Short - Multi-Platinum
  • Short Dog's in the House - Platinum
  • Shorty the Pimp - Platinum
  • Get In Where You Fit In - Platinum
  • Cocktails - Platinum
  • Gettin' It - Platinum
  • Can't Stay Away - Gold
  • You Nasty - Gold

I'm hesitant to update the list for two reasons

  1. The table provided by RIAA.com simply lists the certification, not the sales numbers. So, for example, if I were to change Short Dog's In The House from Gold to Platinum, it would look weird because the sales number would still be under 1 million.
  2. As far as I can tell, there is no direct link to the list of Too $hort's album certifications on RIAA.com. The link I provided above gets you to a page where you can type in his name and get the results... but that doesn't really lend itself to good reference citing.

Thoughts?

Ok, let's see.
  1. The certifications are awarded after the amount of copies SHIPPED not the actual number of copies SOLD. So if Too $hort delivered one million to Wallmart, but only sold 90.000 it is not his problem but Wallmart's. So feel free to correct the platinum/gold statuses whenever you want.
  2. Every time I try to search the database of RIAA it says There was a problem with your submission, please try again and it's been for a half an year that it keeps dropping that error message for me. But if you swear your life that it works for you just link the /default URL, it have to be enough for the others to verify the certifications. It was me who couldn't reach their data so I calculated the retail shipments according to sales but it's not appropriate. Lajbi Holla @ me 09:42, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's weird about the error. I know you have to search for "Too Short" as opposed to "Too $hort" to get the results... but, even if I use the dollar sign I just get zero results, no error.
FWIW, here's a link to a screen cap of the results I get. Guess I'll go ahead and update the certifications.

Ok. I tried both with Mozilla and IE but still doesn't work. Maybe we should link the imagheshack page for the others with similar problems. Do they store the picture for a longer period? Does it get deleted after a while? Lajbi Holla @ me 19:01, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure how long imageshack stores the image. I can add it to the references. Just didn't know if a screencap of a website counted as a 'source' as far as wikipedia was concerned. ENDelt260 21:02, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Heh... apparently there's a bot that runs around deleting imageshack links... so, I don't guess that'll last as a reference. ENDelt260 21:10, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for trying. Lajbi Holla @ me 21:48, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
