[edit]I think the following text sounds biased.
Despite the band's complaints however, the sales of In Color doubled that of it's harsher-sounding predecessor and made Cheap Trick superstars in Japan, proving Werman's commercial instincts to be accurate.
Just because In Color outsold their debut doesn't really "prove" anything. Who knows, In Color could have gone 2x platinum if it were produced like their debut -- we just don't know, hence the issue with the word "prove".
- I agree completely. Since so much time has elapsed since you posted this complaint, and no one has raised any objections or reasons for keeping the wording, I have changed it to reflect a more unbiased tone. The question I'd love to ask the band, by the way, is if they were so disappointed with Werman's work, why did they stick with him for another two albums? Label pressure? --95.96.146.115 (talk) 11:09, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
- I think it just happens to be rare when a record producer actually contributes to the recording artist. I ran across his name in Nikki Six's Heroin Diaries, where Sixx was complaining that Werman didn't actually do anything but order food and talk on the phone. I looked up other opinions from artists that Werman produced, found similar opinions, and then re-read the article we're discussing here. Werman was a record exec, an A&R man, a manager. To be fair, producing art, e.g., music, film, television, requires some amount of management pressure. I think this is what Werman was, and that it is rather telling that he now runs "a bed and breakfast." I also think that the use of the word "earned" is both misleading and telling: He would probably say, "I worked very hard as a producer" and believe that he is telling the truth. I would disagree because my interpretation of the word "work" differs. --Brad Eleven (talk) 20:04, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
