Haynes
[edit]Todd Haynes is an American independent film director and producer, who is considered a pioneer of the early 1990s New Queer Cinema. He provided great insight into disease (including AIDS) and it’s affect on the personal lives of women, the disabled, and the Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual and Queer individuals. It would be important to discuss and memorialize his potential influences on helping our society to finally mainstream the issue of gender and other inequalities. http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/reviews/peter-travers-todd-haynes-wonderstruck-is-visually-stunning-change-of-pace-w509657 http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001331/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm https://www.gq.com/story/todd-haynes-wonderstruck-interview http://sensesofcinema.com/2002/great-directors/haynes/ https://www.filmcomment.com/article/todd-haynes-carol-interview/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ngkhanh (talk • contribs) 02:17, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
I added more information on Todd Haynes' studies at Brown University. I utilized information from IMDb along with sources such as Encyclopaedia Britannica as a reference to his background. I added information regarding how Haynes was marginalized due to his work with sexual films and the National Endowment he received for his project using public funds. This theme aids in determining how this era affected artisits like Haynes and shaped future artists. Ahaddad93 (talk) 02:15, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
I proofread your addition and made a few grammatical corrections. Other than the errors you made a good addition, the Encyclopaedia Britannica is a good source and what you added was relevant to the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashbennett (talk • contribs) 01:39, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- This is a biography of a living person. You may be students, but you need to adhere to Wikipedia's policy regarding biographies. IMDb is not a reliable source, and the reason why is that IMDb is user-generated content. It has no editorial oversight. The guidelines regarding IMDb are here: Wikipedia:Citing IMDb. The guidelines for verifiability are here: Wikipedia:Verifiability. The policy for biographies is here: Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Additional info re IMDb as a source: WP:RS/IMDB. Thank you for your suggestions and links to guidelines. I will utilize content from a book called Todd Haynes: Interview where Haynes describe his academic background alongside his film-making background to give a personal view. Ahaddad93 (talk) 00:24, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have found that not all of the facts have a reliable source. For example the first sentence comes from a news blog of some sort. The source from the first sentence "Where to begin with Todd Haynes" shows evidence of bias. In addition, the second reference to the first sentence presents a source that is no longer available on the web so the information is not valid. Most of these facts do not come from reliable sources. There are also some facts that have no references at all.KevonnaMoore (talk) 06:13, 24 January 2018 (UTC)

Create sub-section for movies
[edit]This is a very informative page, however, I think that instead of putting two movies in one section, it might be better off to create individual sub-section for the movies in this page

Removed from article
[edit]The following (with edits for clarity) has been removed from the main article --> Preview Section and placed here because the citation is to a login screen and the statement as placed in the article makes no sense. Putting here for future editors seems better than just deleting the content.
- took place eight years before it was made [1]
