To Leningrad the Hero City Obelisk → Leningrad Hero City Obelisk – The original Russian name of the monument is "Обелиск «Городу-герою Ленинграду»" which can be literally translated as "Obelisk to the Hero City of Leningrad". This is common way to name objects in Russian, but correct English translation would be "Leningrad Hero City Obelisk". Similarly, "Памятник Сталину" (literally "Monument to Stalin") is translated as "Stalin Monument", not "To Stalin Monument". Current title is quite confusing. I also think that the article should not be named simply "Hero City Obelisk" as there is also similar obelisk in Moscow ([1]).
The proposed name is also supported by the official web site of the city of St Petersburg ([2]). Both current and proposed title give only one hit in Google books search ([3] and [4]) which shows that there is no common established name in English. Simple Google search gives more hits for current title (1700) than to the proposed title (950), but this is probably influenced by the Wikipedia usage and should not be taken as an evidence of common English usage. - Support. Correct English translation. "Literal" does not always equal "correct". There's also one in Kiev, and probably other cities too, as well as St Petersburg and Moscow. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:19, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
