Article rationale
[edit]Creating this page to replace article "murder of timothy caughman."
A murder victim should be known in their own right, not as the work of their killer. This is particularly true with victims of racist violence, whose death is the result of dehumaniztion.
Caughman, as a subject of multiple major media news articles, deserves a Wikipedia article. He was not famous in life, but he is famous in death.

Reply to notice of proposed deletion
[edit]It is common for victims of notable crimes to have their lives documented in an article under their own name, rather than under the heading of their killing. For example the lynching victims https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Smith_(lynching_victim) and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Crawford_(lynching_victim).
This stands to reason because otherwise the killer defines the person's reputation in death. This extends the violence against that person. This is particularly important with regard to victims of racist crimes because dehumanization was an important factor in the assault.
For the moment I have removed the notice of proposed deletion, to allow for room to develop consensus.

Copying?
[edit]Lucas gonze If you have copied any content from Stabbing of Timothy Caughman, you need to acknowledge that. per WP:copying within Wikipedia. I have doubts that both pages will remain on WP, Caughman is apparently only WP:Notable as a result of his death. See also WP:BLP1E. 220 of Borg 06:25, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Hi 220 of Borg,
Thanks for that tip. I will figure out how to do that.
That said, my intention is to merge the two articles.

- No worries,
PS. you can use <br> or 'new line' button on tool bar so you don't need to leave a blank line between sentences.--220 of Borg 11:03, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
