There's one remaining entry on the September Timeline of the COVID-19 pandemic that still has a "citation needed" tag, (I've dealt with the rest). It's the 6th (last) bullet point for 2 September. It states: "The United States of America surpasses 6 million covid cases." The reason I have not been able to find a reference for this is that most of the notable sources are from 31 August 2020, such as: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-53976793. There are sources dated nearly a week after the 2nd, such as the New York Times, https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/30/world/coronavirus-covid.html. I then thought that the entry should be moved to the Timeline for 31 August 2020, but on inspecting the August timeline, I realised that the format there is different, in particular, it cites "WHO Situation Report" for each day, and appears to cover only 4 countries each day: Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the Ukraine. I didn't want to break the format by inserting an entry for the USA for 31 August. Am not sure what to do? SpookiePuppy (talk) 16:56, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The entry for USA of 2 September 2020 has been moved to 1 September 2020 and sourced using The Guardian. This is something of a compromise, as the pandemic event of the USA passing the milestone of 6 million COVID-19 cases was more widely reported on 31 August 2020. Ideally an entry should be made on the page for the previous month. The only reason this has not been done is the difference in format (the use of WHO Situation Reports) in the earlier pandemic chronology months.
