Episode table needs descriptions
I created a table for the episodes, but it still needs synopses of each episode. Enjoy MGlosenger 21:52, 17 February 2007 (UTC) This entry doesnt explain TIM and Eric awesome show great job at all, is this a post post modernist art statement? its not a cartoon. are they a couple? is it a high school video project starring these two grown men? I have no idea, but really questionable. Also, someone should talk about how it gets picked up, season after season, which is the most unusual aspect of the series. Proper style for episode synopses
I think it's important that the summaries of each episode preserve some of the humor and punchlines. For example, the summary to "Carol," which I originally added, was recently expanded with something that I view as unnecessary for an encyclopedic synopsis. There's the potential spoiler, et cetera. In fact, I reduced my original synopsis to avoid this very thing. I plan on going forward with similarly condensing the synopsis for each previous episode. Comments? Suggestions? Move for Lock
As it appears many people dislike this show, I would consider a lock to deter vandalism. CharlieP216 18:04, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Locking a page shouldn't be a proactive move. Wait and see. If there is vandalism, it can always be locked then, but until then, leave it open. (I'm the guy who yearns for rabid wolves, but I'm not planning on vandalizing this page.) 71.122.250.69 03:19, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- Odd kind of show to be sure. There is little middle ground. Folks either love it or hate it. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 06:45, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Episode synopses
I'm just going by what's in the episodes. Nowhere in 'Salame' does anyone say the old women are potential wives, nor in the actual episode 'Chunky' does anyone say the musicians are German.
And are you sure that that's actually Tim/Eric's MySpace page and not just someone pretending to be them? MGlosenger 00:12, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- All their Myspace pages are maintained by the boys and their staff. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 10:12, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Anniversary show?
there is a note added in this show's description that says the episode is "notoriously unfunny". Is that not replete with POV? Can that statement be stricken from the description of the Anniversary episode? I mean, I personally found the episode hilarious, and surely others did not, but that is not what a Wikipedia page is for. --Frenk Melk 06:12, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've already removed it, but yeah, if you see things like that, remove them. Similarly if someone put "this show is widely considered the best ever", you would remove that.. unless of course the contributor provides some sort of meaningful citation either way. MGlosenger 13:47, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Monty Python comparison
Okay, I just read both the cited references, and nobody compares Awesome Show to Python . . . except Tim Heidecker himself, tangentially, in the SuicideGirls interview. --63.25.5.141 23:25, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree. The cited article does not mention Monty Python. Also, if the section is called public reaction it should also include some of the negative reactions from not only those who don't like the show but also from those who question why it is on Cartoon Network. Jccalhoun 03:41, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Again, I agree. The actual article it links to says nothing in favor of the show, let alone something along the lines of Python. I'm changing it. LikuX 10:59, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- I removed "with some drawing comparisons between it and Monty Python", because the article that was cited for this statment specificly says this: "I'm not making a direct comparison between Monty Python and Awesome Show, but I am saying there's a difference between comedy that works because it's been done before countless times, and comedy that really dares to be different." Chaztheweird 03:31, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
I have a contribution
how do i upload the image though. the image is for missing
Public Response section?
thumb|right|100px|Seconded. Do we really need the 'Public Response' section? It's obvious that some people are going to like something and some people are going to dislike it.
I will shortly remove said section unless there is a huge uproar against it.
MGlosenger 13:39, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
It would be nice to see a critical response, assuming of course any real critics have done a review of the show.--204.76.128.217 09:34, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Ummm, as per my picture. --293.xx.xxx.xx (talk) 10:17, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Im not a pro but tried to add to it with the Chicago Tribune and NY Post both reviewed it negatively and both were removed, maybe due to my own novice or due to a fan boys. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.198.193.46 (talk) 05:09, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, the show is so damn stupid that a section mocking it only makes sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.239.229.213 (talk) 05:54, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Redirected from 'Tim & Eric' or 'Tim and Eric'
'Tim & Eric' redirects straight to here, perhaps there should be a page about Tim & Eric; they gained recongnition long before "Awesome Show' and an article about the artists themselves (including timanderic.com and appearances) would be approriate, if not a disambiguation page with a 'red' link to 'Tim & Eric'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.190.202.20 (talk) 04:09, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Completely agree. There's actually a personal page for [David Liebe Hart], whose only claim to notability before Awesome Show was a local cable-access show, and these guys don't have their own page, despite making 7 seasons of broadcast television on the Cartoon Network, as well as many other music videos, ads, and other series like [Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule]?
And for anyone complaining about a lack of reviews (for a start):

Abso-lutely
"This signoff for projects from Absolutely Productions stems from the answer given by the senior Heidecker when he visited the production facilty at the end of season one of TGTTM and was asked if he enjoyed a recent vacation."
How can this be possible when the date on the clip clearly says 1991?!?Thesetrixaintforkids (talk) 02:47, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
OK PEOPLE Im ASKING this question because the article obviously needs to be changed if the stated "fact" is simply logically untrue. If no one else does it, then I will. I dont give a damn that the source is from DVD commentary, it totally contradicts the date on the tape.Thesetrixaintforkids (talk) 20:42, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Thesetrixaintforkids, go ahead and change it. That's the nature of Tim & Eric's humor. Your logic is sound. I recommend leaving as much of it in as possible, with your correction appended. Just for thoroughness. Sisyphe42 (talk) 03:05, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Oh well, it seems its been revised. The old version made it sound as though Tim's dad said that during at the end of TGTTM, but the new one explains it was a long time ago, and the inspiration for their production company's name. Much better. Thesetrixaintforkids (talk) 21:31, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Robin Williams
Did he play himself or was someone else playing him? Hoponpop69 (talk) 18:12, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Tim and Eric say in an interview (the page links to it, I think) that it's an impersonator. --LoganTheGeshrat 19:10, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Are you joking? Tim's Robin doesn't even look like Robin Williams! :) He sure has the voice and mannerisms down pat, though... waj (talk) 10:06, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
IMDB credits the actor who plays Williams as David Born. Might be worth putting a little "played by" in the synopsis in case anybody else is wondering who the impersonator was. I wasn't sure if it was the real Williams until the ending when I finally got a good look at his face. He's good. But I'm pretty bad with faces, so maybe it was just me. And Tim and Eric have some amazing cameos on Awesome Show, so it's not totally implausible that Williams might show up to act silly for a few minutes. Anyway, here's the link. If others think it's a good add, then please add it. :-) http://imdb.com/title/tt1105207/ Thx1200 (talk) 16:35, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

DVD image
Could we maybe get a new image for the DVD release section? The image shows (and would suggest) that there are two DVDs in the package, while there is actually only one disk. monkeygra (talk) 00:55, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- There's this one found on their official MySpace page. I don't know if permission would be needed. monkeygra (talk) 01:53, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- That same image is on is on the Amazon page selling the DVD. If it's used for marketing purposes, what is the free-use rule for its limited use here? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 06:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to remove the DVD image, it's inaccurate and was originally uploaded by someone to show what they thought it would look like when it is released (as it says on the image page). I can take a picture of my DVD and upload it if someone wants (I don't really know what to put for Fair-use rationale) AlexvH (talk) 03:25, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Self advertising
If the article has a fault, it's self-advertising. Is tagging for neutrality/factuality/weasel words the right focus?
67.169.127.166 (talk) 17:18, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I'd agree the links to the episodes in the article and the almost too in depth episode and DVD write ups seems fishy to me. Mostly though I think the links to adultswim website within the article should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.69.66.54 (talk) 16:32, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Episode 3.0... "Awesome Tour Live 2008"
I added the title and date to the section for 3rd season, but due to possible COI, I am unable to add the cast, nor describe the episode no matter how neutral I do so. Best to all. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 10:02, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
help
I added stuff about their live shows and how they have been incorporated into the series. I am not certain how to set up my links as references. If somebody helps, that'd be cool. But I will read more to see to figure it out.
SPLIT: Featured sketches and recurring characters
"Featured sketches and recurring characters" need their own article. The T&EASGJ main article has too much detail to accomodate this (and other) sections. StevePrutz (talk) 01:31, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
EXACTLY! We can make good articles for them and expand the ones who already got articles! Ilovetimanderic (talk) 22:46, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes, and split the episode synopses into its own article, too! -98.228.122.251 (talk) 15:34, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
we should have some new articles or expand what we got
Adult swim declares the favorite Tim and Eric regulars: http://www.adultswim.com/americaloveslists/te_regulars/index.html It would be cool to either write some articles for these folks or expand current articles to show how neat they all are. Here's what I found...
- 10, Bread Harrity: Don't know the actors real name. Sorry
- 9 Holly Browning: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2592739/. She's only been in 3 episodes, but she is hot!
- 8 Michael Q. Schmidt: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2045573/filmoseries Known for the "Raise My Roof" naked dance in the Hamburger episode and the live shows. He's been in 9 episodes of Awesome Show, 4 episodes of Nite Live, and 28 episodes of TGTTM as Joy Peters... in a dress, yet.
- 7 Ron Stark: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0823260/ been in 4 episodes and is funny
- 6 Palmer Scott: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1331768/ been only in 3 episodes, but his "sit on you dance" made 'em roar at the live shows.
- 5 Chuck Spitler as Larry: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2099680/ been in 3 episodes as Larry. Look out Carol!
- 4 James Quall: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2858590/ the master of 12 voices. Been on 6 episodes of Awesome show and 9 episodes of Nite Live. His act is so bad its funny.
- 3 Richard Dunn: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2457364/ Our Pep Pep! Ben on 9 episodes of Awesome Show and 12 episodes of Nite Live. Was the storyline of the Muscle's for Bones live show and episode.

- 1 David Liebe Hart: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1790349/ Our puppetmaster prayer-leader. Been in 12 episodes of Awesome Show and 10 episodes of Nite Live.

What I meant to say better is that if Adult Swim thinks these recurring cast are favorited, we can do something about it too. Ilovetimanderic (talk) 22:44, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- I love the show, but are any of these actors really notable? Keep in mind that this is an encyclopedia and not a fan site.--J.shellenbarger (talk) 02:54, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Reversion under "Sketches"
For the record, here's what I just reverted under the "Sketches" heading (my emphasis):
Many sketches on Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! spoof commercial prime time television, by demonstrating a poor quality of programming and the often deadpan, emotionless dialogue of its participants. Long periods of uncomfortable silence, frequent close-ups of people's faces, and excessive video glitching are commonplace events in Tim and Eric's sketches. This haphazard and poor video rendition more accurately captures the human condition, lampooning the glossy, well shot, and well edited works of Network Television.
Yeah, I'm just not seeing it...--Enwilson (talk) 02:07, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
Merging?
I think it would be better to merge the Sketches and series finale sections into the main block at the top, where information such as that is usually kept.--LoganTheGeshrat (talk) 19:34, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

- Full House had 8 seasons, what's your point? just because the title has the words ‘great’ and ‘awesome’ doesn't make it so. —68.42.132.189 (talk) 04:01, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I know there USED to be a mention of the negative reviews on the page (and these were real reviews, I love this show but if there are legit people out there against it it should probably be mentioned on the page), but now there are NO reviews whatsoever. Who knows how that happened. LoganTheGeshrat (talk) 18:26, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- No reviews? Who knows what happened? Give me a break. Everyone knows that entertainment companies, just like actors and private corporations, consider their Wiki pages a status symbol and have all their buddies editing them. I agree this is a horrible show and the reviews should be mentioned 68.12.110.233 (talk) 04:27, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
I've seen some of this show, and am appalled at how profoundly unclever and unfunny it is. Among the adult swim shows, it's in a class by itself -- and that's not a compliment. In Carol Burnett's first autobiography she tells of how, after her initial success in the late '50s, she grew so self-important that, when she performed, hardly anyone laughed. She quickly learned her lesson. Bob & Ray went through a similar phase in their early years, trying desperately to be funny, and failing. One should automatically be suspicious of any performers who describe their act as "awesome" and congratulate themselves for doing a "great job". I'm 63 years old, cut my comedy teeth on Steve Allen, Bob & Ray, and Stan Freberg. Though there are other mediocre-to-poor adult swim shows (most notably Seth MacFarlane's contributions), Tim & Eric is the only one that leaves me gasping "Who signed these guys to a contract?" This article definitely needs some professional critiquing, both pro and con. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 00:10, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- Go find the criticism then, and stop treating talk pages like forums, you have been warned on your talk page several times about this. Dbrodbeck (talk) 13:33, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Also, this is a vastly different style of comedy than Steve Allen, Bob & Ray, and Stan Freberg, and at that, it's certainly not for everybody (and the title is a joke). --RaygunShaun (talk) 21:29, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- I wouldn't even lower myself to call it a 'style'...it's simply 2 grown men acting as idiotic as they can and expecting the population to 'get it'. Yet I see no mention of the fact that the only defense against people who do not like their show is that they just don't understand it. This combined with 'Awesome Show' and 'Great Job' are a social experiment to see how many idiots will fall for it and rally to their defense. I get the point of the supposed humor they try to convey, it's just simply not funny...the real hilarious point is all the people that don't understand when they've been tricked. I would think there should be at least some mention on the page about the public opinion(s) and how they range from one end to the other as well as including some mention regarding the social experiment aspect of the content and naming of the show. Also the appropriateness of having said show on Cartoon Network. Also, people might not see a ton of criticism any longer because most of us have given up caring or trying to stimulate sense in the idiots since CN has at least managed to keep it out of more prime-time airing. Forgive me for sounding like a forum post, Dbrodbeck, but I felt you had missed the point of the man's statement. He gave a long description to give weight to what he was requesting to be changed rather than just randomly spouting off like a prick *cough* or randomly changing someone's work. 76.177.107.18 (talk) 06:32, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

thank you so much for saying this....i hate this show with a passion i really dont understand how anyone could find it funny along with half the other shows on adult swim nowadays (the heart she hollar, the mighty boosh, ect) its absolute trash with no humor what so ever... i would love to meet someone who finds this funnny please please let me meet someone that thinks this is funny so i can observe how stupid his personality must be..66.58.186.63 (talk) 08:49, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
They started from nothing, they've been making shows for the past 9 years and they made a movie. That's talent. How long do they have to defend themselves? If you want to rant against Tim and Eric, go to one of the countless hate forums out there. This page is for improving their article, not being immature. But there needs to be a negative review of their show if the section opens with "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! has had a wide range of reviews with many differing in opinion," which I think is true. If you hate the show so much, contribute by finding a bad review!72.198.211.245 (talk) 02:03, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedians do strange things sometimes. I personally liked those pictures as well, and also don't know why they were removed. Series finale?!
WHERE does it say, anywhere, that season 5 was the last season? Someone clearly took a rumor as gospel truth and edited the page as if the show is now over. This could possibly be the case, but seeing as how there is an absurd lack of evidence (both Tim & Eric's tweets about the finale refer to it as the "season" and not "series" finale, the T&E website says nothing, etc., etc.), I doubt it. Regardless, unless there is a citation of the show's cancellation, it should be considered as ongoing. srsly, wtf. Jay Bones (talk) 06:19, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Meaning
Does anyone else realise this show has a constant reference to severe child abuse. Many characters in the show constantly talk of there terrible childhoods. Casey for example sings "I remember when i was just a boy, you took my puppy and leaved me all alone, you said you loved me but that was just a lie, how could a mommy abandon her own son? one thing id like to know is if you are coming back, cause i just cant stand to see one more sunset." And Will Forte constantly speaks of his abusive father yelling "WHO PUT THESE HOLES IN MY BELT?" and urinating. Maria Bamford's character is constantly rambling about her psychologically abusive mother. Piere is clearly a pedophile with lyrics like "get sexy kids!". And perhaps the most obvious one would be the child clown outlet is this subliminal messaging? no one else seems to notice how tragic this show is until i point it out —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.70.87.32 (talk) 05:40, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- While there are many sketches related to child abuse and "dad humor" as Tim and Eric themselves have termed it, I don't think it's meant to be tragic, or subliminal messaging at all. Tim and Eric have noticed how important a father can be in their child's life, and they use this as a source for comedy. I believe they said that in one of the DVD commentaries. Even if it's not particularly meant to be tragic (it is probably meant to be disturbing) that doesn't mean it's not worth a mention on the page. If you want to make a note along the lines of "Much of the show's humor is derived from childhood and parenting problems" I'll support it if it works.
