Tiffin Boys' School/Temp
[edit]I have added an article to Tiffin Boys' School/Temp, this could be used instead of the current one to avoid copyright infringements.
Proposed merge
[edit]Merge with Tiffin Boys' School/Temp. I will do it if there is no opposition within the week. Be Bold. --Poorsod 18:34, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Tiffin Boys' School
[edit]I think this page needs to be changed, there is no such school as Tiffin Boys School, it's name is simply Tiffin School, sure we may only cater for boys, but we were here first! That's why we get the proper name... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.44.142.190 (talk • contribs)
- I agree; take it to WP:RM. TerriersFan 03:22, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
It was certainly called Tiffin Boys' School when I was there up to 1981, But may have changed since. So I suggest that the name is retained, as this article is historic as well as comptemporary. 80.254.146.84 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 12:13, 14 June 2010 (UTC).
Notable alumni
[edit]The requirement for this section is that the person should have a Wikipedia article. I have cleaned out those without an article or where their article doesn't mention this school.
If an editor wants to add a name they should:
- Make sure the person has a WP article.
- Provide a source that shows that they attended this school.
TerriersFan 22:39, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
I believe that Jona Lewie went to Tiffin School, but I won't add it as I don't have the reference. He was certainly influenced by the brass bands. But if anyone else can research that one... 80.254.146.84 (talk)

Requested move
[edit]Tiffin Boys' School → Tiffin School – Correct name of school; there is no such place as Tiffin Boys' School. Present page is an unnecessary DMB that can be replaced by a DAB. TerriersFan 17:37, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

- Support - I can find no references to Tiffin Boy's School, the school website says Tiffin School 213.78.25.240 (talk) 17:04, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Out-of-place text
[edit]- The famous book Chamath De Silva sword was made there.
I removed the above text, as it had been placed in the wrong context in the article, and I can't make heads or tails of it to figure out where it ought to go, or what it's even claiming. -GTBacchus(talk) 19:19, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
There is a boy with that name at the school, its probably someone messing around 213.78.25.240 (talk) 17:06, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Current administration
[edit]To avoid any wasted work, whilst the names of the houses and tie colours are just fine the Current Administration is transient and unencyclopaedic and will be removed. TerriersFan 21:44, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Andrew Lawrence
[edit]After reading something in a school paper, I have discovered that the comedian Andrew Lawrence is a former student. I shall try and get verification for this fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.135.9.133 (talk) 18:33, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Assessment
[edit]I am assessing this article as B / Mid. This has become quite a strong article with many sections, pictures, references, and content. I see many of the sources used are primary - to improve try and expand the source pool to include more secondary sources. I would suggest trying to get references for the alumni section and expand the introduction as it is currently a little short for an article of this size. Also I would recommend expanding some sections further down the article such as the Tiffin shop if possible, pictures here would be good too. I am giving this article mid importance for its alumni and history. Camaron | Chris (talk) 20:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]Some hilarious vandal has added the "adult actor" Ben Dover into the notable alumni section. Ain't a wiki contributor so I'll leave it to one of the staff to verify he wasn't educated at Tiffin...;) - Ex Tiffinian who thinks this article could do with a bit of work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.87.143.3 (talk) 16:25, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Financial Irregularities
[edit]http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/education/article5576175.ece
I love it when newspapers like The Times use expressions like "financial irregularities" so that they can say that something dodgy happened without actually accusing anyone of doing anything wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.138.20 (talk) 21:21, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- The phrase does not belong in a section header in the article, because it is vaguely libellous and because it focusses on current events only, which is a small part of the subject of the article. What has happened is far from clear, but no-one has alleged fraud. Kanguole (talk) 18:01, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- Neither do I allege fraud, so please dont allege that I do. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.138.20 (talk) 20:02, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Notable Alumni (2)
[edit]The established practice on this page is only to add alumni where the person already has a Wikipedia article and it can be sourced that the person attended the school. If you wish to add an alumnus who is red linked please write a page for them first. TerriersFan (talk) 20:27, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Clean up
[edit]There has been a maintenance tag on this page since Jan 2019. I am removing it, as there have been over 100 changes- and no comments made here. I will tag individual sections however. Can the regular editors make a few comments here and keep up the good work. this from the Grauniad seems worth comment. --ClemRutter (talk) 11:31, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
