Date of birth

There have been several, very different, claims as to Thesara Jayawardane's date of birth.
The range of dates appears to be from 24 April 1977 to 24 April 1984
However, the only independant source quoted, The New Zealand Herald of 13 October 2003, states she was 24 - although, presumably, this is what she told them, rather than something they researched.
It is not uncommon for actor/esses and musicians, or more especially their management, to try and claim that artists are younger than they really are.
I was at university with a well known musician, who was 2 months older than me, until he joined a pop band, and suddenly became 3 years younger than me.
Without a reliable independent source, not her management, or other sources related to her, we cannot accept any claimed Date of Birth. - Arjayay (talk) 17:41, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Another independent source is her biography on the University of Moratuwa, Department of Management of Technology site here which states she:-

Held the posts of Secretary and Vice President of Women Engineering Network at the University of Auckland and one of the active committee members for 3 years, NZ (1999-2001)

If she was born on 24 April 1984, she would not have been eligible to enter the university until at least 2001 (aged 17), although 18 is the normal age of entrants, let alone be elected to such a post when she was only 15. - Arjayay (talk) 12:43, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

That link is a self-published source. Because age is something that people like to distort, we prefer secondary sources published independently of the subject over ones published by the subject.
