Lyrics
[edit]Um, I'm pretty sure that quoting an entire song lyric violates WP fair use guidelines, although I haven't yet found a page that explicitly says so. The idea of fair use for text is generally to use a representative sample with attribution for illustrative purposes. (IANAL.) The whole song lyric isn't really a representative sample - it's half of the entire copyrighted work, the other half being the music. I know that lyrics sites routinely do it, but it's problematic, and considering how careful WP is on fair use of images, I suspect that quoting the entire lyric of a Sherman Brothers song won't be allowed, either. As I say, though, I haven't found it in WP guidelines yet, so I didn't revert. Regards.... Karen | Talk | contribs 15:45, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
