The problem with BAD history
[edit]This is one of the worst docudramas I've ever seen. Almost as bad as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter when it comes to historical accuracy. I believe this should be explained in detail.Ericl (talk) 16:59, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
Wikipedia isn't a platform for opinion or advocacy. All articles need to be written from a neutral point of view. "Editors' personal experiences, interpretations, or opinions do not belong." http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/point_of_view See more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:No_original_research (64.61.22.114 (talk) 17:06, 28 May 2014 (UTC))
how do you know? You haven't even signed in?!!!! Who are you?Ericl (talk) 17:40, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
Eric is correct....there are too many historical inaccuracies. I understand Wikipedia's philosophy of writing articles from a "neutral point of view", but, historical accuracy is not a "point of view"...it's based on facts and the truth. In addition to historical inaccuracies, there are several key omissions of fact whose inclusion would help explain more clearly the truth of the matters. 2601:7:1C80:28:FC0F:F0EB:DAD8:A68A (talk)
- I agree there were historical inaccuracies. However, Wikipedia policy requires we find reliable third-party sources WP:RS and not rely on our own judgement WP:OR. Ripberger (talk) 08:21, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
This page is being hijacked in an attempt to cover up the inaccuracies in the film. Apparently merely citing "facts" stated in The World Wars is considered to be non-neutral. I agree that this is not the place for review or criticism, but if historical inaccuracies cannot be noted, then the idea of Wikipedia as a reference for factual information is laughable. El Mirage (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 19:52, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- Whatever historical inaccuracies may be in the film can't be identified using original research and they can't rely on personal judgment WP:OR. Citing the film itself isn't enough. Reliable third party sources must be referenced WP:RS. Also, any inaccuracies should not be identified in the main page summary section. They belong in a separate section. See the "Controversy" section of The War (2007 TV series) or the "Criticism and statistical notes" section of Super Size Me for examples of how this is properly done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.204.224.181 (talk) 10:01, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
I GIVE UP. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WORSE; THE CRAP HISTORY THIS SHOW PUT OUT OR THE OBVIOUS COVER UP BY THIS ANONYMOUS STOOGE. IF HE HAD ANY INTEREST IN THE INTEGRITY OF WIKIPEDIA OR THE HISTORY CHANNEL AS SOURCES OF FACTUAL INFORMATION HE WOULD BE WORKING TO CORRECT THIS INSTEAD OF WORKING TO HIDE INEPTITUDE. El Mirage (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 13:53, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
I can't be bothered to restore the section about the OBVIOUS historical inaccuracies in this fictional mini-series, but if someone is willing to fight the censor from the History Channel who is editing this page, here is a reference http://newsbusters.org/blogs/pj-gladnick/2014/05/29/history-channels-world-wars-chock-full-major-historical-errors No doubt, the shill will claim its an un-Reliable third party — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.31.118.76 (talk) 19:45, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
- There should be a criticism section. As with most, if not all, of the History Channel "documentaries", the emphasis is on entertainment, giving Germans a bad rap, and conspiracy theories. Historical accuracy is of no interest to the makers. I exaggerate, but only slightly. This may be personal opinion, but it is shared by many, and the article ought to include some reference to criticism or controversy.Royalcourtier (talk) 05:54, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
Adjusted length needed
[edit]Paragraph 1 says the 3 parts originally in May last 6 hours together. The June extended version is not given a specific length. Does anyone know how much longer each episode is? I think it would be worthwhile to mention this detail. Are they all the same lengths or do they differ? If they differed, I would suggest adding the length variations to the chart which has the synopsis. Ranze (talk) 15:37, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
