Ower cauld a hole
[edit]Seems to be a mistranslation here; cauld is generally taken to mean cold. Ower cauld a hole is therefore "too cold/inhospitable a hole"

- I'm convinced; especially since I can't find "called" as a definition for "cauld" in either of my dictionaries.
