Infobox
[edit]- Seems fine.
Lead
[edit]- "The song was released on January 1, 2008, as the lead single from the album." → wasn't the second?
- It is the first single. As written in the "Recording and release" section, two songs were previously announced as the lead single, before they were each replaced by this song. Aoba47 (talk) 02:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- "Ashanti and L.T. Hutton wrote and produced "The Way That I Love You"" → see infobox
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 02:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- "and made appearances on several Billboard component charts. Internationally, it also charted in Australia." → may want to rephrase this after the changes on "charts" section
- The song still charted on component charts though? Aoba47 (talk) 02:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yes but only two, so you can mention them here. If not both the R&B/Hip-Hop, it peaked at number two there. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:39, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 16:58, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- "Ashanti also did live performances to further promote "The Way That I Love You"." → Ashanti performed the "The Way That I Love You" at the 2008 Sessions@AOL, as well as in tours.

Recording and release
[edit]- "Ashanti and L.T. Hutton wrote and produced "The Way That I Love You" → so she also produced? It doesn't go with the information on the infobox.
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 02:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- "the singer arranged the vocals, while Hutton programed the instruments" → programmed and you can say that Hutton also played all the instruments on the song, adding the information you have on the "Credits and personnel section" here written.
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 02:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- "On January 2, 2008," → wasn't January the first?
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 02:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- "Prior to the song's release, "Switch", featuring rapper Nelly, and "Hey Baby (After the Club)" were originally announced as the album's first single" → "The Way That I Love You" was released as a follow-up to the promotional single "Switch", featuring rapper Nelly, and the lead single, "Hey Baby (After the Club)".
- The revision would be incorrect. "Hey Baby (After the Club)" was announced as the lead single, but replaced by this song instead. Aoba47 (talk) 02:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Okay that threw me off, if I'm honest. How about "...were originally announced as the album's first single, but replaced by "The Way That I Love You"? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:34, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Composition and reception
[edit]- "music critics" → link to music journalism
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 02:33, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- "The Way That I Love You" peaked at number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on May 17, 2008, and remained on the chart for 18 weeks. It also appeared on several Billboard component charts. It peaked at number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts. The song reached number 18 on the Adult R&B Songs chart and the Radio Songs chart. Internationally, the single peaked at number 96 on the ARIA. → see section below (Charts) to know what to remove.

Music video and promotion
[edit]Music video
[edit]- Rename the section as "Background and synopsis"
- I do not know if that would make sense in this context (since the entire section is covering more than just the music video itself). Would it better to just make the music video information into its own section to deal with it. Aoba47 (talk) 02:40, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- I separated the sections out to make the content separation clear. Aoba47 (talk) 03:13, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- "fit with the single since the lyrics are "so dramatic and so painful and emotional" → suits the single's dramatic, painful and emotional lyrics.
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 02:40, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- "in a 2015 article, Spencer Kornhaber of The Atlantic cited "The Way That I Love" clip as an example of violence by women in music videos. Kornbaber described the trend as "pop singers joyfully and brutally sidestepping tropes about victimhood". A contributor for The Boombox summarized the video with the saying: "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." → move this to the next section
- That would not make sense though. These sources are talking specifically about the music video, and the next section is exclusively about the promotional campaign associated with the song. Aoba47 (talk) 02:40, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

- The way you revised made it perfect. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:40, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you. I can definitely see where the confusion came from with the original structure. Aoba47 (talk) 22:45, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
Promotional campaign and criticism
[edit]- "Ogunnaike criticized" → Ogunnaike deemed

Live performances
[edit]- "Ashanti also promoted "The Way That I Love You" with live performances. She performed it in 2008 during Sessions@AOL." → Ashanti also promoted "The Way That I Love You" with a live performance in a 2008 Sessions@AOL.

Track listing
[edit]- Fine
Credits and personnel
[edit]- This section is quite messy. To begin with, where are the engineers, mixing and mastering and everything else?
- Unfortunately, this is all of the information that I have on the song. Aoba47 (talk) 02:54, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Ashanti Douglas – lead vocals, writing, production, background vocals, vocal producer, vocal arranger
- L.T. Hutton – writing, production, instrumentation, programming
- Revised. Ashanti did produce the track, but I forgot to add her to the infobox. Aoba47 (talk) 02:53, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Charts
[edit]- The source doesn't cover the Australian charts. Try auspOp on their chart watch section, unsure if they go all back to 2008. If not, try other sources.
- I removed it as I could not find any information from a reliable source to back this up. Aoba47 (talk) 02:52, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- US Radio Songs and US R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay are component charts and they should be removed. The latter is used if the song doesn't make it into Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, which is not the case. The former is never used.
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 02:47, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Hot 100 comes before Adult R&B Songs.
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 02:47, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Release history
[edit]- You need to add the release dates of radio here as well.
- Revised. Aoba47 (talk) 03:06, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- The song was also released to radio by The Inc. (Murder Inc Records) if I'm not mistaken, along with Universal, be sure to add that. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:26, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Added. Aoba47 (talk) 16:56, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

References
[edit]- Only link once the source articles. Example Given: Rap-Up and MTV News
- I have actually heard the opposite from my experiences in FAC. I have always heard that the source articles need to be linked in each reference as they are treated separately. Aoba47 (talk) 03:10, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Really? Perhaps GA's and FA's have a big variation there. But it's fine by me if you want to leave it linked. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:23, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- australian-charts.com. → Hung Medien (publisher, remove the work)
- The source as a whole was removed. Aoba47 (talk) 03:10, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Musicnotes.com. → Alfred Music Publishing (publisher, remove the work) + wikilink
- The publisher on the Musicnotes.com is "Universal Music Publishing Group" so I used that. Aoba47 (talk) 03:10, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Gfa.radioandrecords.com → Radio & Records (publisher, remove the work) + wikilink
