Article expansion
[edit]hello again, i have added a link to a feature news article on the Uptones, which appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle on March 23, 2008. will this suffice to remove the qualification text: "This article does not cite any references or sources. (December 2006)" and graduate this entry from its status as a stub? any feedback would be appreciated. thanks! Cabbagemaster8 (talk) 21:35, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
hello, i'm not sure how this vetting process works. but hopefully this excerpt:
"92. THE UPTONES Along with Operation Ivy, the Uptones formed the core of the Berkeley ska-punk scene that paved the way for the likes of Rancid. A hard-edged, upbeat band that would have been huge if it hadn't been years ahead of its time."
from this article: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/1999/12/19/PKBB90.DTL&type=music
from the san francisco chronicle, might help to verify the importance and significance of the uptones article. is this the kind of input that is desired here on a talk page? i'm a newbie here so i hope this helps. best regards, ska fan
I expanded the article, added references and a discography. Photo(s) will be added as well. The re-write emphasizes the importance of the band in the U.S. ska scene and how they influenced future bands such as Rancid. --Utilizer (talk) 22:44, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I added an info box and photo. I'm checking more sources for references and info. regarding songs and live performances. --Utilizer (talk) 17:34, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Wasn't this article deleted?
[edit]Wasn't an article on this band recently deleted by a Wikipedia administrator? Presumably it was deleted for a good reason. Perhaps more info (and references) should be added to explain why this band is notable enough for a Wikipedia article. Spylab 15:48, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
I added the quote and reference posted above into the article, since it shows that at least one music critic thought the band was notable. This article still needs more information though. Spylab 16:50, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to work on this article and add more references to show notability. --Utilizer (talk) 17:33, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
