This article needs some reliable sources to indicate that they pass this. The article doesn't really sell it. I'm replacing the notability tag until something that actually shows the notability is put into the article. --Rocksanddirt (talk) 18:43, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article has multiple third party sources which complys with WP:BAND. Please explain to me your rationale for your template. Undeath (talk) 03:54, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is only one reliable source used in the article. I've added all the encyclopedic material from that source to the article as well. Sites where you can buy the record are not reliable sources for verifying notability. One album on a real label is not quite enough to establish notability of the band. What about tours? do they play concerts anywhere that get reviewed in magazines or newspapers? I think there is enough for an article, but you have to show it in the article or someone who is against the proliferation of myspacebands on wikipedia will get this deleted. --Rocksanddirt (talk) 18:21, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Members

[edit]

Someone please help find current and past band members. I cannot seem to get them. Undeath (talk) 04:12, 6 March 2008 (UTC) Nevermind, I found them. Undeath (talk) 04:48, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

I've looked for decent sources on this band, and apart from the one allmusic review, I found nothing that could be considered significant coverage from a reliable source. I thought I had found something when allmusic listed several more albums, but it turned out these were by a different, German band called simply "Mandrake". One album and one professional review doesn't cut it as far as WP:BAND goes. The article needs more reliable sources, so if anyone has access to any, please add them.--Michig (talk) 18:48, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The all music review should suffice along with the reviews presented. SSMT is not a fansite/fan review website. They are professional reviews. That passes WP:N for presenting multiple third party sources. Also, they have released albums on a very notable Crash Music. That passes WP:MUSIC. Undead Warrior (talk) 08:05, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Allmusic is one source. SSMT is an amateur review site/blog. To quote the site "Satan Stole My Teddybear provides a fan's perspective on music". They have released one album and one demo as far as I can tell - 2 albums on a significant label are needed to pass that criterion of WP:MUSIC. --Michig (talk) 09:01, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Even rockdetector has nothing about this band, which suggests they are not notable.--Michig (talk) 09:04, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I found a review from Teeth of the Divine which may be usable as a reference - not sure how 'professional' the site is. Also added an interview. The article still really needs more reliable sources.--Michig (talk) 09:38, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Rock Detector is not the only test for notability. All Music trumps rock detector anyways. Also, SSMT is not a blog nor amateur. They do provide a fan's perspective because they review music like a fan would. I.e., tell it how it is. Also, a demo is still an album. So, 2 albums on a notable label. Undead Warrior (talk) 20:30, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Unless SSMT has a paid staff, its amateur. The demo, as far as I can tell (i.e. by looking on the band's website), was released on II records, which isn't a significant enough label, if it was even commercially released.--Michig (talk) 20:37, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted because the user has been tagging multiple notable articles with speedy tags. The tags are borderline harassment and have no backing nor justification. For example, a spam speedy on this article? This band has multiple reviews from third party sources, has played at multiple notable events, and is on a notable label. --The Undead Never Die (talk) 02:40, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

lets not talk about other articles shall we. I am aware of the speedy deletion guidelines. I hesitated when listing the article for speedy deletion whether I should list it as G11: Promotion and A7: not-notable band as it meets both criteria. Maybe A7 is better, but the myspace link, the quote about how great they are in the ref and otherwise not establishing notability lead me to classify the article as just promoting a band. The thing about bands is that there are some awesome bands that are not nearly notable enough for inclusion on wikipedia. see WP:MUSIC for the specific guidelines. This article doesn't pass any of the criteria on that page and otherwise does not establish the subjects notability. I do not post these speedy delete tags carelessly as they are often contested and then I sometimes get drawn into an argument. I do not want to have to defend a decision that I made without proper consideration.
A look at the refs cited is a good first clue. There's the bands labels website which is just an "Under construction" sign, two dead links to the bands official website, their myspace page which is self-published and generally not permitted as a link on wikipedia. There are also a few reviews, none of which credibly establish notability. see WP:No one cares about your garage band for a reasonably good explanation of the spirit of the notability guidelines for bands. The article makes no credible assertion of significance for its subject. I was not able to find any info that might support the idea that they are in fact notable, looking around the web, perhaps I missed something. If so then it needs to be added to the page for it to be kept. Metal lunchbox (talk) 03:29, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
