Release year
[edit]IMDB lists this film as being released in 1968, while this article says 1969. I wonder if this is because the film saw limited release starting Christmas '68 and entered full release at the beginning of Jan 69? - CHAIRBOY (☎) 04:44, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- No, IMDB is incorrect. I have two sources saying the film was released in March '69- the official Disney website [1] which states The Love Bug was released on March 13, 1969, and Herbiemania.com, the first Herbie website and a very reliable source. (The author of the website contributed a lot to the history featurette on the Special Edition DVD.) -HotWheels53 20:53, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- It depends what date your using as the release date. This movie was premiered and released in 1968, although that was a limited release. It seems you are choosing to disregard that and use the national release date instead. The Herbiemania site is more about the actual car than the movies, so it's not a particularly reliable source in this case. IMDb has errors, but major ones like listing the wrong release year for a movie like The Love Bug would be corrected quickly, so 1968 is clearly the sensible option.
All Movie Guide also lists the release date as 1968 - [2] 172.200.60.145 21:20, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- You may be right. Do you have a source for this statement? "This movie was premiered and released in 1968, although that was a limited release." -HotWheels(53) Talk 15:05, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

There's no such copy like that. It's fake! Only animated feature films are in the Classics series. Skymac207 12:45, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, really? Then why do I have one sitting on my video shelf? Here's a scan of it for proof: [3] HotWheels(53) Talk 17:24, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
That's a Film Classic. A Film Classic isn't the same as a Classic. They're different. Just because they say the word "Classic", doesn't mean they're part of the Classics series. Skymac207 23:41, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Umm... right... Do you realize how incoherent that is? It doesn't really matter though, the list of trailers on a film shouldn't be part of its article. HotWheels(53) Talk 04:22, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
This shouldn't be part of article anyway, because it's fake! Skymac207 24:04, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you, I think that's been established. This is not and will never be part of the article. This seems like a really minor detail that does not matter. Your energy could be much better spent on another aspect of the article. HotWheels(53) Talk 16:10, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Good! Thanks! Skymac207 17:43, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Racing
[edit]Can anyone write a section for this article that explains or describes how accurately this movie portrays the racing world and the specific types of races portrayed? It looks like they start out on tracks, but en up in some sort of free-for-all. The opening sequence looks more like a demolition derby than a race. Was it supposed to portray racing sequences? What kind of motor sport allows for the entries of so many different kinds of cars? -72.160.78.69 00:16, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Havershaw
[edit]Havershaw's name in the German version of the film is "Haferstroh". "Hafer" is German for "oats", "Stroh" is German for "straw". --2A01:598:8085:59D7:6420:C98B:1B3F:614D (talk) 16:36, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

The Love Bug (1968 film) → The Love Bug – It appears this is the primary topic, hence why "The Love Bug" redirects here. So my request is simply based on WP:PRECISION and WP:Unnecessary disambiguation. If I'm wrong, redirect "The Love Bug" to a DAB page. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:24, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Support per nom. This simply reverts an undiscussed move from last September. Could have been requested at WP:RM/TR as a technical request. Station1 (talk) 08:17, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

- Support asap. I am in the process of reverting this editor's other undiscussed moves and am tempted to just move this one regardless of the RM. —Xezbeth (talk) 06:52, 9 February 2020 (UTC)
- I would support that. Please feel free to close this up. Station1 (talk) 07:22, 9 February 2020 (UTC)
