Precision breakdown

[edit]

Just had to say that the synopsis here is absolutely hilarious. I'm sure that Shock G would approve. :-D - Dann Chinn (talk) 10:14, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, it is quite amusing, though I think we may want a more serious tone. Tim R (talk) 19:11, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's a fairly recent addition. I've screen grabbed it before its inevitable deletion, just in case a revdel kills it from the history for some reason (don't know why it would but just in case). I would delete the section myself since we didn't have a synopsis there before but I'm not that familiar with the Music project's MOS so I'm not positive I should. Millahnna (talk) 19:32, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The synopsis is a work of genius. I really, really hope the editorial community can accept this homage for what it is and let it live, even if it doesn't really quite have that "serious tone" for which Wikipedia strives...some things just need to be left intact! Series of letters arranged in a vertical manner, canine(s). Carge77 (talk) 20:19, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto on the above. Amusing synopsis for an amusing song. --Secruss (talk) 16:28, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Noticed the synopsis was removed as "vandalism". A shame. It was worth keeping. --98.94.175.213 (talk) 00:53, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus here seems clear that it's not vandalism. There seems to be nothing there that I can specifically say could possibly be in any more encyclopedic language, but feel free to make it more so, if possible. Til Eulenspiegel (talk) 01:50, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nice try, but Regulate was better. :-) BrianAshe (talk) 20:04, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's un-encyclopedic because a 6-minute rap song doesn't need a 1000-word synopsis. Hell, there are full-length movies for which a synopsis of this level of detail would be overkill. It's not that funny anyway, the joke has been done several times before. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.76.224.26 (talkcontribs) 01:20, 17 June 2011

I've replaced it with the beginnings of an actual synopsis, with citations to published interpretations of the lyrics. Our goal should be to present a brief analysis, in plain English, that makes sense to readers who haven't memorized the lyrics. Feel free to expand on what I've written; I'm sure there's more to be said on the sexual themes, drawing on Rubey in particular. Melchoir (talk) 05:29, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Per Wiki guidelines, it's not even ripe for discussion--the long version is unnecessarily detailed and more importantly, unsourced. Not even clear whether it's been copied from another site. At any rate, it's apparently original research, per the original edit summary: [1]. 99.168.84.75 (talk) 21:12, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There's something to be said about the spirit of the subject. One can't fully appreciate the crassness and humor of a work like The Humpty Dance in a mere encyclopedic article. I wonder if it's worth considering the broader picture - does Wikipedia seek to portray simply facts to users, or a deeper understanding of a subject? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.202.28.10 (talk) 18:23, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A deeper understanding would be great, within the confines of WP:NOR of course. Fortunately there are sources that would back up a statement about crass humor, and we can even quote some of the lyrics. Is that what you meant? Melchoir (talk) 21:34, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Burger King

[edit]

There needs to be a discussion about the fast food chain on this page. Shock G (as Humpty) boasts getting busy in its bathrooms, and in the music video, the name was bleeped out, likely to avoid a defemation lawsuit. Not many articles I have found on the internet talk about this line, but they do acknowledge its humor: [2] and [3]. ElMeroEse (talk) 23:42, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
