Guiding in Dominica The Girl Guide Association of Dominica (GGAD) was established in 1929 and is the largest organization of girls and young women in Dominica with more than 400 members. The Association is run by a council headed by a president. The Chief Guide is the wife of the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica and her role is ceremonial. The Association is run by a council headed by a president. At present the GGAD is an Associate Member of WAGGGS.
Brownies is a four year program for girls aged 6½ - 10½, Guides are aged 10½- 15, Rangers 14-21 and Young Leaders 18 and older. At present there are eight districts in Dominica comprising 27 units.
Dominica Twinning Project The GGC Dominica Twinning Project has its objective to help to expand and strengthen the Guiding movement in Dominica. By taking part in this project, Members of Girl Guides of Canada will learn about the country of Dominica, its culture, customs, language and many other interesting facts. They will also learn about Girl Guiding in Dominica and the similarities and differences with Guiding in Canada.
It is the objective of GGAD that Dominica become a Full Member of WAGGGS at the 2008 World Conference. Dominica has several goals as part of this twinning project
To hire a Field Officer to assist Guiders throughout the county with recruitment, retention and general support To improve the quality of training To develop 2 projects, Adopt-A-Unit project Adolescent Healthy Lifestyle project Funds raised during the project will be used to purchase resources, uniform, office equipment and to develop other projects. We hope to help Dominica Grow Guiding and become a full member of WAGGGS.
The project consists of three phases
Meeting Ideas Try out the exciting branch specific meeting activities to find out about Dominica and Girl Guiding in Dominica. Do a craft, play a game, plan an enrollment and earn the patch.

Dominica Twinning Patch
Upon completion of the twinning challenge the patch may be purchased from local Guide Shops or directly from the Merchandising Centre at the National Office. The National Merchandising Centre is generously donating a portion of their sales to support the Dominica Twinning Project.
A Toonie for Twinning Each member of Girl Guides of Canada is asked make a donation of a Toonie to the project. This donation will go towards the fundraising for new uniforms, recruitment and over all improving the quality in Guiding in Dominica through program activities.
Adopt-A-Unit Units across Canada will have an opportunity to help a local unit.
