Rozemarie
[edit]I believe Rozemarie has departed the band. Badagnani 07:56, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Reference? I can't find anything. --Bk0 (Talk) 23:55, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
All Corpses Smell the Same
[edit]It was a 7" released in 1980 but has 4 tracks:
- Human Car
- Rock 'n Roll-Stoel
- Cell
- Apathy Disease
I didn't wiki link 7" in the article because that dab's to Single (music), which I think is a little misleading in this context as it wasn't really a single. --Bk0 (Talk) 15:01, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
The band's politics
[edit]It would be great if there were some more info about the band's politics, including relationships with anarchists and squatters movements. Nonplus 01:00, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
Past Members
[edit]For now i've removed 'past members' from the info box. Rozemarie is not the only past member.
Before starting to add all former members i know of, i wonder what criteria need to be met? And imo more important - given the relative anonimity of former Ex bandmembers - does it really add much to the article? . . . s k i n 10:40, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- No big deal. Just list them somewhere in the article. Luc (the former electric bass player) is of course the most important one. Badagnani 10:52, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- The only original members of the band are Terri and G.W. Sok. Luc played with them for 20 years but there were others. A list of all the other musicians that have appeared on their records would be lengthy—there are so many on Joggers & Smoggers alone! Morganfitzp 14:54, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- And now G.W. Sokis a past member as well, making Terri the only original in the band. Morganfitzp (talk) 00:32, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Ex-hidegen-cover.jpeg
[edit]Image:Ex-hidegen-cover.jpeg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

External link suggestion
[edit]As an editor at Crawdaddy!, and to comply with COI guidelines, I am not posting the link to this review of the self-titled album by KatJonBand, of which Kat Ex is a member. However, I would like to recommend it on its merits, and hope that an editor will find the time to examine the review and—if he or she sees fit—post it to the external links section. I appreciate your time. Crawdaddy! (favorable) [1]

Guests as "ex-members"
[edit]Why are guests who may have played with the group on an infrequent basis being listed as "ex-members"? That is wrong. Badagnani (talk) 20:50, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Who specifically do you mean? Mark in wiki (talk) 21:20, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- I assume you mean Massimo Pupillo and [[Han Bennick. These members (both noted for their work outside of the Ex) served as touring members when the band was in-between bassists and when the drummer was taking a pregnancy leave, respectively. In my opinion, they weren't so much "guests that played with the group on an infrequent basis" as temporary touring members. I realize that it is debatable as to whether or not they were "members" of the band, but my general policy is to at least note musicians who serve as long-term fill-ins in roles that are generally associated with permanent members (i.e., bassist and drummer). It becomes somewhat arbitrary as to where one draws one's own personal line in such quantifications, and is especially difficult with groups like The Ex who have existed for a long period of time with many lineups, so if you want to challenge this list specifically I am open to debate. I should also note that the ex-members list draws heavily from the band's self-written history on their official website, in which space both of these musicians are mentioned alongside of 'regular' members. Colinclarksmith (talk) 22:19, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
If they served as touring members and not temporary guests, I guess it's okay. But I'm not sure. Badagnani (talk) 02:21, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well, most of my research for the members section (which was very minimal, I'll admit) came from reading their self-written history at http://www.theex.nl/history.htm. If you have a minute to give it a read, you should do so and see what you think. If you think we should restructure the member section after reading it, let's talk - as I said before, it's a tenuous process and open to interpretation :) Colinclarksmith (talk) 04:26, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
anarchist
[edit]I believe The Ex does not see themselves as an "anarchist" band. They explain this in an interview with Pitchfork Media: http://pitchfork.com/features/interviews/6861-the-ex/ The word "underground" seems more appropriate.Domineediy (talk) 22:11, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think that's fair enough. For the record, I only changed it back to "anarchist" last time because I have a policy of reverting genre changes that redirect to disambiguation pages, rather than the proper article on the genre itself. You got it right this time, so I'll leave it alone :) Colinclarksmith (talk) 22:38, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- ...and of course that assertion has changed with time as the band's members have both shifted as well as aged from being in their teens and early 20s to middle age. People change and this article would do well to include a more chronological aproach that notes some of these changes. Morganfitzp (talk) 22:31, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- I agree, and I'd encourage you to take a stab at implementing that. Cheers, Colinclarksmith (talk) 16:41, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Discography sorting
[edit]A bit confusing to see big time gaps between albums when these appear under "Collaborations/Splits" (the 2 albums with Tom Cora, for example, were the Ex's albums released in 1991-1993). Conversely, an album like Joggers & Smoggers could be lumped in with collaborations as much as, say, Instant and yet these appear in two different categories. Conversely the collaborations section gives equal weight to full-length albums and singles. The Ex is such a fluid project that this could be sorted out by listing their albums in chronological order and attributing those which are collaborations, then doing the same for singles (putting the 6 series in its proper sequence), and so on. Morganfitzp (talk) 22:28, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Five years on, I think it's time for The Ex discography to be its own article and list just their albums on this page. Morganfitzp (talk) 14:58, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
