Merge The Early Tapes of The Beatles into this article?

[edit]

I vote Yes. Steelbeard1 11:56, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus isn't usually established through voting, but I agree with you anyway. There is not some kind of "automatic notability" for Beatles records, particularly repackagings of already existing albums. Extraordinary Machine 23:09, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It took awhile but I removed the merge proposal as it was long decided to keep the article. Steelbeard1 02:00, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong info

[edit]

This sentence is quite wrong : « The Beatles' First is the first British packaging of the 1962 German album by Tony Sheridan and The Beat Brothers called My Bonnie.» It is in fact the compilation of all the songs recorded with Sheridan by the Beatles in Hamburg (plus 4 others). Sheridan's album includes 2 songs from this set but all others were recorded later. This article needs fixin'! Also, the title has an «!» at the end. I've removed the exclamation mark for now because there's no source. The album cover in the infobox has no exclamation mark. M.Clay1 (talk) 02:13, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The image of the album cover is the British 1967 version. The original 1964 German cover has an exclamation mark; the source would be the actual graphics but unfortunatly is not accessible in Wikipedia commons. Since I do not possess the know-how to decide if adding the image would constitute copyright infringment or not, I'll leave its upload to an helpful expert (any volunteers?). But I believe the title should be written as the German original release; I would go as far as renaming the page by adding the «!». My two cents... Since my comment went unanswered, I've put back the exclamation mark in its rightful place since it is clearly part of the artwork of the original german issue. I still think the page itself should be titled with the exclamation mark. JeanPaulGRingault (talk) 00:36, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've created a facsimile of the original German artwork. Look for «The Beatles' First (German 1964 album).jpg» in WP Commons. JeanPaulGRingault (talk) 17:26, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
