VI?
[edit]Per his Twitter (https://twitter.com/thean1meman/status/1230170303906533381), he is the sixth Joseph in a direct male line, BUT- if his legal name is "Joseph Tetsuro Bizinger", he wouldn't be "Joseph Tetsuro Bizinger VI", because his "Australian father of German and Hungarian descent" is nearly 100% guaranteed not to have the middle name "Tetsuro", not being Japanese. The "Tetsuro" undoubtedly derives from his Japanese mother's heritage. Note his father's comment above names his son as "Joseph Tetsuro Bizinger"; there's also no reliable source cited for the "VI", and from what comes up, the only real verification is his own tweet, which doesn't outright state "Joseph Tetsuro Bizinger VI", and even if it did, per the above, it wouldn't actually mean that was really his name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.109.209.235 (talk) 03:14, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
Regarding cleanup
[edit]Joey himself made a video on his personal channel where he went over his page. He pointed out that some facts on the page are dubiously sourced (and that his early life section may not be accurate). Most importantly, though, he states that he was confounded by the lack of an image, which I felt needed to be mentioned on this talk page because the image that is on this page right now was marked for speedy deletion.

- Images of living people must be released under a Creative commons license, you can't just upload any image. If they really want an image on this page, they could take a photo of themselves and post it to Twitter saying "I release this image under (commons license)". Link20XX (talk) 19:47, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- YouTubers pass WP:GNG now? I guess I'm surprised this page exists at all. There's a whole other wiki for YouTubers: https://youtube.fandom.com/wiki/The_Anime_Man
- He needs to read about reliable sources, which implicitly explains why coverage is all over the place, and not as detailed as he might like (English language Wikipedia is more active, more rules are actually enforced, and more gets deleted for not having proper sources). Careful what you wish for, editors might pick a terrible photo! I suppose I shouldn't be surprised anymore when people don't understand copyright law, even people who earn a living as content creators, but as was said above Wikipedia cannot just use any image, and so he needs to release a suitable image under a Creative commons license (or if he has released any videos under a CC license maybe someone could screencap from that). Assuming the article doesn't get deleted for being insufficiently notable before then. -- 109.78.206.181 (talk) 21:11, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- You have mentioned notability, and just by looking at the article, I can understand your concerns. Most of the sources are from his own YouTube/Spotify/Twitter etc or from his associate's platforms. The rest are convention announcements (not very independent either) or interviews, which are generally considered primary sources. The only one that I would count is This from The Japan Times, but two sources are needed for GNG. Obviously this is just by looking at the article, more sources may exist and just need to be found. Link20XX (talk) 21:30, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Link20XX: While there is still room for improvement, I believe we have satisfied multiple issues banner at top and can be removed from the article. --WashuOtaku (talk) 22:12, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- I would say it's okay to remove the tags as well. While discography is still unsourced and it certainly has room for improvement and expansion, the tags no longer really apply. Link20XX (talk) 22:34, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- I don't think this person is sufficiently notable enough to pass WP:GNG but I don't believe in deleting articles either (because an encyclopedia that lists "internet famous" people who are only about as well known as a local DJ is ultimately a better more informative encyclopedia than one that doesn't). So I think it was premature to remove the banner tags,[1] the article definitely relies too heavily on BLP primary sources. (The tag {{more citations}} is true for so many articles but I think it is better to use more specific individual citation needed tags or {{unreferenced section}} tags if editors dispute anything. Joey Bizinger could learn to use the {{Citation needed}} tag too without there being any conflict of interest instead of trying to use a Youtube video to get this page fixed.) I think the tag {{BLP primary sources}} should be restored as the article still relies heavily on primary sources and probably also the tag {{Notability}} should be added.
- I don't understand why the line about "participated as a guest at several anime conventions" is still in the article. It seems like a well intentioned but misguided attempt to show notability and the line should be removed entirely.
- I'm asking now for this article to be improved so that it is good enough to pass WP:GNG before someone who actually wants to delete the page insists on it. -- 109.76.204.243 (talk) 16:24, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- The article is currently over two years old and has considerable work on it, so no speedy delete is going to happen if some random editor feels it does not meet WP:GNG. There would be discussion by all participating editors and must come to a consensus on the matter; for example, this had happen to Trash Taste. That said, instead of asking for the article to be improved, why not help us to ensure that it is?
- The convention information probably should be moved to "Personal life" as it does not have any real bearing on his career. I glossed over a bunch of other bios where they attended conventions and found that 95% do not share that information, but it is a big deal on the convention's article and I do not see the real harm in keeping it in the article since they are all sourced. But I am open to other editors opinion on that. --WashuOtaku (talk) 17:59, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- I am generally against listing convention appearances in articles. They don't usually add to their notability and many famous people often attend many conventions. Listing them all would be WP:UNDUE weight in my opinion. Regarding notability, I have given my thoughts above and they still stand. Link20XX (talk) 23:49, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- "why not help us to ensure that it is?" I already said I don't believe it is actually notable and I meant it. I find their podcasts mildly entertaining and they all seem like interesting people but that doesn't mean I think it amounts to significant coverage by reliable secondary sources or that it needs a Wikipedia article. I'm not going to look for things I don't think can be found, but that doesn't mean I don't hope others can improve this article. It has already improved significantly so now at least everything seems to be verifiable but that doesn't make it noteworthy. He said it himself at the start of his video that he was surprised the page exists at all, he's not wrong. I'm politely warning in that this article needs more work to meet the standards that are usually required and as such the warning tags should remain/be reinstated on the article. As you said that one article from The_Japan_Times is a good start and maybe others more interested in the topic could still improve it with newsworthy/noteworthy things that Joey has done, or maybe not. It is okay to like something and for it not to have a Wikipedia page. Also I already did make a specific suggestion to improve the article ... by deleting the line about being a guest at conventions (and I've seen it in other articles too but that doesn't make it good, it resembles resumé padding not biographical encyclopedia article), I can repeat the suggestion again as a {{Edit semi-protected}} request if you really want. -- 109.76.204.243 (talk) 00:06, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- What is notable is relative and I do appreciate you sharing your concerns regarding the article. For me, I believe the Anime Man is notable to warrant a wiki article and hopefully it will be improved upon further by other editors that share the same opinion. In regards to the conventions, both you and Link20XX make valid arguments, so I will make the edit changes on it (sorry Finns). --WashuOtaku (talk) 01:32, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

I notice there have been a few images taken down now. At what point will an editor with the proper permissions have to consider protecting this page at least temporarily, until things cool down? I mean, this article also was highlighted in a video watched over 50,000 times as of my typing this. You guys doing the job of reverting all those rule-breaking edits have your work cut out for you. If I ever get beyond infrequent bouts of copyediting, I think I might be wise to stay away from editing celebrity pages like this one I’m just passing by tonight… Goddale120 (talk) 00:22, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- I made a protection request at WP:RFP over 12 hours ago. Waiting for an admin to respond. Link20XX (talk) 00:24, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- The protection finally arrived, so that should calm things down. If people want pictures on Wikipedia, they must follow the Wikimedia Commons copyright rules, which means images must come from either media that has Creative Commons license, as was the case for Akidearest; or the image uploaded onto Commons has the copyright owner's permission, that can be a confirmation by them or they uploaded their own images and also gave permission (here is an example of an image I uploaded). At this time, I counted 12 images uploaded in Commons for 'the Anime Man' or 'Bizinger,' all of which have also been flagged because of copyright and are to be deleted unless the copyright owner approves the image(s) or the uploader provides it if theirs. I realize how frustrating this is for many people that are just trying to help, but all you can do is reach back out to the Anime Man and let him know why images are not appearing on the article. On the positive, this article is finally getting exposure. --WashuOtaku (talk) 05:52, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- I have sent Joey and email about it, giving him instructions on how to make a wikipedia account and upload an image himself, Hopefully it works. The Golden Viatori (talk) 13:37, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

- Also it would be better for an encyclopedia to have an image that clearly shows his face and is not obscured by large dark sunglasses, but that image seems like copyright violation anyway. -- 109.78.206.181 (talk) 21:18, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

Associated acts edit war
[edit]An edit war has seemingly started between myself and User:Washuotaku about including The Anime Man's partner Agnes Diego aka Akidearest under associated acts or not. I am of the opinion that due to Akidearest's article's infobox listing this article both under partner (as Joey Bizinger) and under associated acts (as The Anime Man), which to me makes complete sense since they are both partners and they also are associated with eachothers content creation, this article's infobox should reflect that. Washuotaku has determined that to be so wrong that not only have they undone my edits twice, they have edited the Akidearest article to reflect how they think the infobox for this article should be formulated. I vehemently disagree, as giving the info of someone being someone's partner doesn't also tell the reader that they are associated acts within eachothers content creation, and making edits to exclude that information from the article not helpful. Ifrit (Talk) 05:40, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- It is understood that a partner or spouse would also be an associate. So the duplication in the infobox of having them as both partner and associated is just repetitive and not necessary. The article also discusses as such of their relationship and collaborations. --WashuOtaku (talk) 14:52, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
