wThe teviot Row house is by no means the oldest built student union house in the world. For instance check out dsc.corps.nl and click on sociteit under societeit phoenix. You'll see a picture of student union house built in 1847 Phoenix. Hencewith the row house is just a baby. Q.E.D.

BUT Teviot Row House IS the oldest PURPOSE-BUILT Students' Union in the world. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.215.149.97 (talk) 16:48, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to above: Doesn't it depend on how you define "students' union"? From what I can tell from the article, Teviot Row House seems to be used in about the same way as the student nations' houses in Uppsala, Sweden. Some of them are older than 1889. Stockholms nation's building was erected 1848: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholms_nation. /user without wiki account. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.132.208.223 (talk) 18:37, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
