Article needs a photo

[edit]

This article clearly needs a photograph of the funky retro-looking Robovan that was briefly mentioned but clearly shown at the 10 October Tesla "We, Robot" event. Hundreds of people took photos. We just need to get one who releases an image under the proper CC Wikimedia license. N2e (talk) 13:44, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File:Tesla Robovan concept van, as unveiled, October 2024.jpg

Fixed — I uploaded a viable WP:FAIRUSE image from a news article already used as a source (The Verge), added all the requisite FairUse rationale, and have added the photograph to the article infobox.
Feel free to tweak it if it needs work. N2e (talk) 13:24, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio problem detected

[edit]

I found today a copyvio problem in one of the sentences in the article, and tagged it, inline, in the article wikitext.

I then did a little looking and found it was added by User:Bdebbarma in the past 24 hrs.

I have written on Bdebbarma's Talk page, requesting they clean it up, and to please check ALL of their recent edits on this article and ensure there are no other copyvios here, since the user added quite a bit of material in that set of edits. I have not checked all the other material for copyvios. N2e (talk) 14:37, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was a cut/paste copyvio. All that needed to be done was re-write it. --ZimZalaBim talk 14:49, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted Edit

[edit]

@N2e As far as I know, I did not remove any sources. While citations attached to the quote were removed, those very same citations attached to other parts of the article were left in place and intact as far as I could see.

Could you please explain the problem in greater detail? Largely Legible Layman (talk) 22:57, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

When I looked at the diff of your edit, it seemed the citations had been removed (the Road & Track source). I'll look again.
  • I saw this
"Tesla CEO [[Elon Musk]] said "We’re going to make this, and it’s going to look like that."<ref name=tc20241010/><ref name=rt20241010>{{cite news |url=https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a62573810/tesla-robovan-revealed/ |title=The Tesla Robovan Is Elon Musk's Vision of Group Transport for the Future |work=roadandtrack.com |date=10 October 2024 |access-date=25 October 2024 }}</ref> "
was deleted; but see now that you added it back in a diff section. My mistrake. I misinterpreted the diff. Let's discuss point no. 2 before I revert the reversion. (but my edit comment is clearly incomplete there...) N2e (talk) 00:26, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But it is also worth discussing the quotation text you removed here on the Talk page. Since very little was said about the unveiling of the Robovan during the "We, Robot" event (event was mostly Cybercab, autonomous test rides, and Optimus robots walking around), it would seem to me that the CEO's comment about what it looks like and intent to produce it (ie., it is NOT "just a concept car" being unveiled for a show, as many concept cars are, by many manufacturers, at auto shows all the time. So discussing why you thought that quotation was pointless would also be useful. Maybe you can convince editors why it is pointless. N2e (talk) 00:14, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I removed it because with no context to understand what it was supposed to mean it just looked like tautological gibberish. If you have sources that make your interpretation clear, and you want to properly contextualize the quote I would have no problem with that. Otherwise, it does not appear to add any valuable information to the page. Largely Legible Layman (talk) 00:21, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I think it makes two very important things clear: 1) that Tesla intends to actually produce this van, and 2) that the CEO says it will actually look like teh concept protortype that they unveiled in October; ie., the external look/design is pretty solid. The quotation is in that source (I confirmed). So, since media articles said that Tesla revealed few detailed specs in the whole We, Robot event, and the CEO confirmed those two relevant facts, I'd surmise that it is actually good to leave 'em for an encyclopedic description of what we know about the Tesla Robovan as of Oct 2024. N2e (talk) 00:30, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Frankly, all this quote makes clear is that Musk thinks and said this. --ZimZalaBim talk 23:48, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But we really need a photograph of the Robovan. There's got to be many from the event; but haven't found any uploaded to Wikimedia with the proper source license. A photo would provide the context you are looking for, I think. Alternative, we could probably justify a "FairUse" use of a small photo and take it from one of the copyrighted media articles; until can be replaced with a CC licensed photo.
