Comments and questions
1. "Starting at the Geneva autoshow, the roadster will travel until its arrival at the Paris Autoshow on September 28, 2010."
This entry should be in the past tense.
2. The "History" section needs to be reworked. The updates for the 2010 and 2.5 versions should probably have their own section or be a subsection. They don't say much about history.
3. I think the "Development" section could easily and conveniently be merged with the "History" section. There is more history in "Development" than in "History".
4. The "6% part overlap" appears twice in the article. It's repetitive.
5. "At the "Town Hall Meeting" with owners in December 2007, Tesla announced plans to ship the initial 2008 Roadsters with their interim Magna two-speed direct shift manual transmissions locked into second gear".
What is the "Town Hall Meeting"? Where does it come from? There is no explanation why the gear had to be locked in second. This should be added.
6. "The coolant pump draws 146 watts." Is it 146W per hour or what?
7. "Richard Meaden was the first to review the all-new right-hand-drive version of the Roadster".
The "all-new" expression is a lousy marketing joke used by people in marketing to sell stuff. It should be eliminated or replace by a simple "new".
8. The reviews are not listed chronologically but backwards. I think it should be the other way around.
9. "This car is Biblically quick!" I understand this is a quotation but does biblically have to be capitalized?

- "146 W per hour" doesn't make sense. GregorB (talk) 02:12, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
New Tesla Roadster
Pardon me, but there have been reports of a brand-new Tesla Roadster due to arrive in 2014. Can you please research this and rewrite it accordingly? Thanks!--67.54.187.27 (talk) 00:33, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
- It's been delayed or cancelled or it never existed. Take your pick. see WP:CRYSTALBALLGreglocock (talk) 01:24, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Tesla facts added?
i noticed the tesla roadster uses an injunction motor or electro magnetic ac only motor. Perhaps one would add that it uses one of tesla's inventions to specifically link it to the figure himself. Infact, it would be considered a electro-magnetic vehicle even if they used a 12 volt with a pulsating current from its motor ie the motor's current to recharge a 12volt only electric vehicle would need to be higher than the battery's amperage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.174.55.96 (talk) 22:05, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Anti-Electric Vandalism
It said this. "It has been pointed out that "Electric cars don't solve the automobile's environmental problems"." Which is a straight-up lie. And, it's citation is some kind of invalid PICTURE thing in a magazine that was likely an anti-electric propaganda advert in the magazine, or some such thing, used to justify the vandalism. The entire paragrapg is invalid, with just the one invalid citation. "It has been pointed out that "Electric cars don't solve the automobile's environmental problems".[161] This has reduced direct relevance to the Tesla Roadster, because its light weight reduces the amount of electricity consumed and of materials used. However due to the majority of United States still deriving electrical power from fossil fuel sources, the exact environmental impact is unclear" They didn't even put a period at the end of the last sentence. So, I've removed the paragraph, and the section since that is all that was in it and leaving the section existing would thus not make sense at this time. The section should be put back in after someone has real information to put in it.--174.19.234.173 (talk) 14:50, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
- Your concern about the period at the end of the sentence does not justify the removal of well-cited information. It is most certainly true that electric cars do not solve environmental problems caused by cars. Have you read about the issue at all? Binksternet (talk) 15:28, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

3.0
I added only the briefest of mentions of the new 3.0. I dont normally edit this article, but i wanted to add it so i can link to this article from Portal:San Francisco Bay Area's timeline feature, and i need it mentioned here. i say this so people dont ask why i didnt upgrade the article more extensively. I will leave that up to other editors. its obviously a notable upgrade, and my addition is appropriate if incomplete.(mercurywoodrose)108.94.3.63 (talk) 16:06, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Wh vs. kWh
It might be useful to re-write the figures involving watt-hours in terms of kWh -- the kWh, unlike the Wh, is a unit familiar to almost everyone. I don't think this would count as WP:OR, as this is a mere change of units which surely comes under WP:CALC. -- 80.168.198.81 (talk) 14:27, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Battery system
The following sentences reference no source. It would be good to have them.
Tesla Motors stated in February 2009 that the current replacement cost of the ESS is slightly under US$36,000, with an expected life span of 7 years/100,000 mi (160,000 km), and began offering owners an option to pre-purchase a battery replacement for US$12,000 today with the replacement to be delivered after seven years.
The likelihood of this occurring is extremely rare however as the vehicle also has onboard telemetry and a live GSM connection to Tesla so that the owner can be alerted well in advance of any damage occurring (There has only been 1 recorded example of this). The roadster can also be set up with systems such as Open Vehicle Monitoring System (OVMS) that also allows the owner to remotely access the vehicle telemetry and activate battery charging via android or iPhone devices.

Roadster mk II
The projected 2019 Tesla Roadster with Maximum Plaid acceleration mode, might be mentioned here in a successor section? It's already being promoted as a prize to Tesla referrers -- 65.94.42.131 (talk) 04:15, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles/Conventions#Unannounced vehicles. Talking about how great it's going to be is not the same as announcing concrete details about a car that will actually ship. The Automobile project's consensus against mentioning speculative or rumored vehicles is based on Wikipedia policy, which says "Speculation and rumor, even from reliable sources, are not appropriate encyclopedic content.". We might say it's a reliable source because Musk said it, but it's still speculation.
All of the Tesla articles already have far too much weakly-sourced information. The less said the better, while we focus on trying to clean up what we already have. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 05:10, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- I never said anything about how "great" it's going to be. I only said a section for the future successor. It's not a rumored vehicle, since it is a promotion to Tesla customers by Tesla. The promotion itself isn't speculation, it's occurring. And that is something that can be mentioned, since they are selling the care already, through this promo. It may become vaporware, but they are selling shares in it (giving discounts to purchase) -- 65.94.42.131 (talk) 05:45, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
- Musk is the one who talked about how great it's going to be, without having published any specifics. It's cheap talk, and he hasn't said anything that he can be held accountable for. They could build a car with literally any specifications and call it the Roadster 2, or any other name. Or not build it at all. It's vapor. It's pointless for you to go on repeating these assertions. You either have citations to support your claims or you don't. Post the sources you have that show this is more than speculation. I have no problem with an article saying verifiable facts about a future car that is within the bounds described at WP:CRYSTAL. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 06:14, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

- I agree with Dennis, it's too speculative for a facts based encyclopaedia. Tesla could change their mind on just about any aspect of it, so nothing we put in the article could be expected to be counted as an actual fact. Stepho talk 10:08, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
