I am honestly not 100% sure if the Kingfish at Telegraph and Claremont is in fact in Temescal. I live near it and get the Rockridge news all the time. Miskatonic 22:47, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Take a look at the "Welcome to Temescal-Telegraph" map, which I picked up at the Temescal Cafe, probably available at several businesses in the area. According to it, the Kingfish is squarely within the 'hood. According to the map, it extends from the Berkeley border on the north to 40th St., and from MLK on the west to Broadway/College. (I was actually a little surprised at this, as I thought this encroached on Rockridge.) Anyhow, it's a very nicely done map of the area. ==ILike2BeAnonymous 02:41, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Temescal's borders are not clearly defined as proven by differing maps and opinions. I asked Jane Brunner (Temescal's City Council district representitive) to fill me in and she said that her office uses Broadway, 40th, 51st and hwy 24 but the limits are undefined as neighborhoods rarely have concrete boundaries. --JTNW 00:20, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- I live near the Kingfish as well, and receive both the "Temescal News and Views" as well as the "Rockridge News". Looking at various maps and descriptions of both Rockridge and Temescal, it seems that the general area east of Telegraph near 51st is an overlap of the two neighborhoods.Tam knows 09:05, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Temescal Station
[edit]The Key System never had a Temescal Station. The location given in the deleted passage was the site of the yards of the Sacramento Northern Railroad. The Sacramento Northern had a stop (no depot) called Temescal, but this was located adjacent to Lake Temescal. Tmangray (talk) 20:46, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
And now they have "Welcome to Temescal" street signs on Telegraph Ave. all the way up at Woolsey Street on the Berkeley border. That's stretching it a bit - wouldn't you say? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.101.214.221 (talk) 02:25, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Borders
[edit]Currently, the article says that Temescal is bordered to the north by 51st St. I would argue that this is definitely not the case - the Temescal Farmers' Market, which is a major feature of the neighborhood, is held several blocks north of 51st St. The Temescal branch of the Oakland library is about a block north of 51st St. As the discussion above reflects, there isn't really a commonly accepted border for the neighborhood. I'm thinking it's best to rewrite the paragraph to remove the idea that there are definite boundaries, but I wanted to get others' opinions before I made a change.
