Major overhaul needed

In the individual movie sections, very little information is given about the movie itself. For example,the first to section states "Another plot point for the movie is that The Foot have kidnapped Splinter, and the Turtles must rescue him from the Shredder's grasp." This is not "another plot point." It is the plot. Other key elements include the introduction of these supporting characters. Also, the first reference doesn't appear until the fourth section and the overall tone of the the first three movies sounds like it was taken from the back of the DVD case.Brendanmccabe (talk) 21:18, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Combining the 90s films section with the 2007 film section

Peter Laird's comment from 2005 to the contrary aside, the 2007 CGI film very clearly takes place in the same universe as the 90s live-action films, so I'd like to suggest merging the section on those movies with the section on the 2007 film.

I'd also like to propose adding information about Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation to the same section as the live-action films and the 2007 film, given that it also occupies the same continuity (in spite of Peter Laird's attempts to ignore the series' existence), as well as mentioning that the 4 films and the television series form a shared universe with most of the television seasons of the Power Rangers franchise.DigificWriter (talk) 23:42, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

I really have no problem with the first (it's a broad strokes continuation, but it is not implausible). But I vociferously object to the second, as Next Mutation is not a theatrical feature film, and completely outside the scope of this article. Intentions about continuity are WP:INUNIVERSE and irrelevant. Mentioning that the producers of the TV series intended it as a continuation of the original films belongs on that page, not here, and no mention of the Power Rangers should be made as they've never appeared in a TMNT theatrical feature film. Do you also object to mentions of Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, etc., in conjunction with the Marvel Studios films? Because we are dealing with the same thing fundamentally here with regards to this particular iteration of the Ninja Turtles franchise. It does form an MCU-style shared universe that includes one television series and four films and is unequivocally set in the same universe as the Power Rangers franchise, and I don't see why mention of this should not be made.DigificWriter (talk) 02:48, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

Because firstly, it's not the same thing; they're not the same incarnation of the franchise, as has been reiterated by the creators multiple times. Despite what you said, Peter Laird, as the sole owner of the franchise at the time, is the final authority in what counts. So we cannot ignore him. And I utterly dispute your reading entirely. Firstly, the 2007 film does explicitly ignore the TV series, according to the film's director himself, so they are not in the same universe. Period. Secondly, not every crossover establishes a full shared universe (I feel like I already said that). Otherwise, there'd be no distinction between the DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Archie, Image, Aliens, Predators, and other universes, as they've crossed over numerous times in comics. Yes, Archie meets the Punisher was actually published. That doesn't mean that Archie takes place in the Marvel Universe. All that the Power Rangers guest appearance establishes, at most, is that the Next Mutation version of the Turtles is in the Power Rangers universe. And as I said, both Peter Laird, the then-owner of the franchise, and Kevin Munro, the director of the 2007 film explicitly said its not the same universe.
