Rank
[edit]Teal'c once held the rank of First Prime, but after his defection, at the end of Stargate SG-1 Season 1 Episode 2: The Enemy Within, General Hammond said to Teal'c, "Welcome aboard Sergeant". -- Ed Telerionus 23:05, 18 July 2005 (UTC)
He said "son", not "sergeant".
Hair
[edit]What about his hair growth in later seasons? ANy explanation on his goatee? PrometheusX303 23:15, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Any explanation of his eyeshadow? Furby100 04:09, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
His goatee? Nope, still no explanation (At least, not that I know of). However, his top-of-head hair is there because the Jaffa tradition of shaving ones head after marriage was started by the Goa'uld, and Teal'c has decided to rebel even against such small things as that. JBK405 03:35, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
On the DVD they explain the goatee by saying that Christopher Judge came into season 4 with it and wanted to keep it, then realised several episodes later realised how silly it looked and shaved it off, so it is never really explained in the Stargate universe. askwho 15:25, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
His baldness is explained as part of warrior custom, not lack of ability. In an episode where Teal'c and O'Neill switch bodies(can't remember which episode, I looked through episode summaries and didn't notice it) Teal'c, in O'Neill's body, states he must shave his head. It would appear that he gives up this tradition after being on Earth long enough. 16:31, 8 January 2009 (EST) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.34.255.202 (talk)
Prototypical Jaffa?
[edit]Like Worf did for the Klingon race in the Star Trek series, Teal'c transformed his race from anonymous and irredeemable villains (in the early seasons of the show) into a rich society further developed by the writers of each episode. In the process, both characters have come to symbolize their respective races as their cultural perspectives become key points in story plots throughout the series they are involved in.
Bad analogy as Star Trek:TNG and later series had the opposite effect on the Klingons, going from an interesting and competent foe in the original series to a one dimensional warrior race. Really, do we even need this section at all? Remove it I say.
I think it's a good anology, considering what the writer was going for, but I'm going to edit it anyway, since the reference to Worf really isn't necessary. JBK405 02:52, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Indeed
[edit]Where did the number 763 come from? JBK405 23:05, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
I think we need some kind of source here, I've never heard any official comment on just how often Teal'c said "Indeed", whether it be 763 times or 95. JBK405 15:48, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
"* In September of 2006, an internet user named hawkeyefile had watched and calculated how many times Teal'c had said "indeed", it was aproximately 164 times."
I think we need a source for this, this is the third number that's been posted here. Who is hawkeyefile, and where did he give his results? JBK405 02:39, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
I did the same thing as this hawkeyefile, but came up with 143 total 'indeed's. I kept track episode by episode, so I can provide that data on request. - unregistered: will2041, 19 April 2007
I'm new at this, so I hope you'll forgive any procedural errors that I make. I have just completed a website called The Indeed Project, which is a listing of each and every time that Teal'c said Indeed during the entire series. Each instance documented by the time into the episode that it is spoken, and the total I have come up with is 154. I've only read about 40 of the 80 or 90 pages of rules, policies, formats and procedures that govern editing Wikipedia, but it appears to me that I cannot edit the current entry because it is original research. Any suggestions? The site is at: http://www.skulldude.com/sg1/indeed Skulldude 01:04, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
"Indeed" is not the final line spoken during the SG-1 series. General Landry says, "Godspeed" as the team makes its way to the gate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.186.197.229 (talk) 03:37, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Name
[edit]season 3 episode past and present Tealc mentions that his name means strength and it was given to him by his father
Brand?
[edit]No mention of his head brand? It's the single most recognizable feature, yet no mention is made of it. --72.202.150.92 03:45, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- The article now mentions a "golden tattoo", which it's not. It's a piece of solid gold, cast onto the exposed bone of his head. That's not how tattoos work! I wouldn't call it a "brand" either. Maybe an "implant"? It's the word body-modders use. "Implanted gold emblem" maybe? Avoiding the word "golden" is probably best, since it's not just golden, it's the actual metal gold.

Character genesis?
[edit]This entry is written entirely 'in universe'. How about some info about the creation of this character? Was it written with Christopher Judge in mind? What other actors auditioned for this role? --72.202.150.92 03:46, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Trivia
[edit]Added new fact. Teal'c appeared in more SG-1 Episodes then (sic) the other characters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.38.95.6 (talk) 06:29, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't get that, since the IMDB says that he and Sam are in the same number of episodes. Chokolattejedi (talk) 01:43, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Beyond Season 10
[edit]While the movies aren't out yet, there is still a tiny glimpse of state of SG-1 after season 10 - we know from Atlantis that Carter left them, while Tealc (and at least one more member, since he says "we") stay in some way with SGC. Also, it's noticable that Tealc's temples still have grey hair, hence the timeline changed in "unending" still wasn't fixed (as I assume it will be in "continuum")
Do you think this information deserves to be here ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.199.94.2 (talk) 12:32, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Infobox image
[edit]I think the infobox image should be of the aged Teal'c from either "Unending" or AOT. How about using the promotional image, like the Stargate Wiki did? - Sikon (talk) 17:00, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- The current one is a promotional one and what benefit would we gain from using the "Unending" one? he reverted back to a haircut close to his normal one in Atlantis when he appeared. Peachey88 (Talk Page | Contribs) 08:21, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Asgard expert?
[edit]We know from the episode Unending, that Daniel Jackson spends a considerable amount of time(decades) studying the history of the Asgard civilization, as well as other parts of the Asgard database. Surely, with a dearth of outside events, and a lack of other entertainment, discussions about Daniels recent discoveries would undoubtedly be a frequent topic of conversation at the dinner table. Since access to the Asgard computer would be very useful in such a dull situation, all of the team members would have likely mastered the Asgard language, including teal'c.
The Asgard Computer is mainly used in the episode for it's near-magical properties (time control, object/food creation), but it also comes with the entire knowledge database of the most advanced alien race in 5 galaxies. That would be really significant if you're spending a lifetime on a small ship. Ghostwo 16:49, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, but that is never mentioned in the show so we shouldn't mention it in the article. --Tango (talk) 17:52, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's kind of a shame that the series ended after this episode. Spending a third of his adult life on a ship would have had a lot of impact on the character. It's like he's just been released from a 50 year prison sentence. Sure he spent a lot of time training with Col. Mitchel, but surely he didn't do that 100 hours a week for 50 years... It all reminds me of No Exit/Huis Clos by Sartre. Ghostwo 17:51, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
"Treason! Arrest him!"
[edit]I keep hearing the Goa'uld term for "traitor", but I don't see it mentioned here. What was it? President Spence och, mon 00:09, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
