Several questions

I have several questions concerning the edits made by Popeye191:
- Is it OK to put the songs Taylor Swift wrote and didn't wrote by herself in the lead? Wouldn't it be preferrable to only mention them in the sections below?
- Popeye191 removed the self credits in the "acting" section. Personally, I would let the section as it was... Are her appearances in music videos and her cameo in the Hannah Montana movie not important?
Sofffie7 (talk) 13:04, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Appearances in music videos should be left to the discography page but the rest of the removals he did no he probably shouldn't have done them. Please contribute to the Filmography issues section below. Swifty*talk 12:14, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Now I understand why the music videos credits were erased as you explained it :) On a second thought, I agree with Popeye191 with his other removals except for her cameos in films which I think are notable. I replied under too. --Sofffie7 (talk) 22:43, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Edit request on 19 April 2012

Sections "Position as a role model" and "Feminist discussion" should be removed. They are presented in a way that is more offensive, rather than informational and accurate.

Mrpopit (talk) 03:44, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Would you please explain in more detail what you find offensive about the sections? The role model section seems to me to be "informational and accurate" - sourced etc. The feminist discussion is balanced with inclusion of both sides of the debate. Swift is often discussed in feminist and role model terms, so I think both topics warrant a discussion in her article. Popeye191 (talk) 07:55, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
While these sections are sourced, I think they are poorly worded. For example, the line referencing a "Long Live" lyric is mixed in the attempts at making her songs sexual. "Long Live" is dedicated to her band members, not a sex song. It just seems to me that there is too much speculation and opinions in the two sections I mentioned above.

Mrpopit (talk) 17:52, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

The "Long Live" lyric is used to demonstrate that Swift only used 'fairytale' imagery once on her third record. There is no attempt to sexualise her songs. Popeye191 (talk) 19:30, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. --Tyrannus Mundi (talk) 22:31, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Filmography issue

Okay Popeye191 insist on removing a majority of Swift's filmography on his personal opinion of "Removed music promotion appearances, has made countless 'self' appearances, why were these particular ones included?, seems more straightforward to keep it to acting work." as he stated here. Now that is his personal opinion but I do not think it should be removed so I have restored it until a consensus can be reached by the community.

  • Keep as is If Swift is credited for her appearance then it should be posted, just cause it's either a cameo appearance or singing performance, etc. doesn't make it any different then any other actor/actress. Swifty*talk 11:48, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Comments
  • I'd like to make note that I've checked the history and Popeye191 has removed this twice I do not agree with the comment that was placed when first restored that seems a bit rude but I do agree it shouldn't have been removed. Swifty*talk 12:07, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Would you explain why you have chosen to highlight these particular musical performances and 'celebrity' appearances out of the hundreds of similar appearances she has made and been credited for? I'm curious why you have selected these tv appearances in particular? For example, why include her appearance on America's Got Talent in 2007 and not her appearance on The Paul O'Grady Show in 2009? etc etc. I think there should be some sort of system or pattern and that the easiest way is to limit the filmography to appearances she has made as an actress. If you have included them because you think these particular tv appearances were important in her music career (?), why not include them in the body of the article, in the music career section? "just cause it's either a cameo appearance or singing performance, etc. doesn't make it any different then any other actor/actress" - With respect, you don't see Meryl Streep's chat show appearances listed in her wiki filmography. Popeye191 (talk) 14:23, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
That's a good enough reason just cause you don't agree to it doesn't make it a bad reason. Besides if I've check this history and this talk page three people disagree with it's removal. Honestly you shouldn't do things without waiting on a consensus. Plus there's things on there I didn't even know so imagine how useful that information is. I am a fan of Swift's but I did not know she was on Punk'd or Dancing with the Stars (twice). I didn't know that till I found out on here so if you can't see how useful that is then oh well. Don't have TV at home so good thing Wikipedia has a good filmography of her or I'd be pretty stupid to call myself a fan and not know that information. So it's useful. Swifty*talk 20:25, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Truthfully, it seems silly to me to list her making appearences DWTS or something like that. It seems gratuitious to me. She appeared as herself on Letterman too......and a bunch of other shows. We can't (shouldn't) list everything, so why these ones? Niteshift36 (talk) 20:57, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Honestly, when I saw the first revert Swifty is pointing even though it was harsh, it just made me laugh! On a more serious note, Swifty, you were right to ask other wikipedians' opinion on the matter in order to reach a consensus but I have to say that I agree with Popeye191. I think we shouldn't keep track of her promo appearances. If we did, we'd have to mention EVERY show she appeared on (not a few based on an unknown criteria) and this would take too much space. Besides, Wikipedia is not a specialized film website like IMDb where every detail of a filmography needs to be put. So, I think we should only stick to her most notable appearances which are, aside from her acting credits, SNL, the Jonas Brothers film and the Hannah Montana film, even though they were cameos. For the rest, erase it. --Sofffie7 (talk) 22:15, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I agree with Sarah7 that cameo appearances in feature films should be included. Is there consensus on this issue yet or should I wait for a while? Popeye191 (talk) 16:29, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Don't worry about it I already took care of it and removed what needed to be removed. Swifty*talk 18:43, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

I agree with BellaFan262 if there is going to be a dispute of the image then there needs to be a picture nominated and a vote made. Please change "Influence and recognition". It should be changed to "Legacy and recognition", listing the ample amount of accomplishments in the few years of her career as well as the constant praise received by Swift which has left quite a legacy in the years of her career. All the information under that title is proof to justify that. She is praised by absolute legends in the music industry. She has broken many, many records. Her accomplishments are none of the sort that will be forgotten. She's simply a legend and should be referred to as one.

Not done: The relevant definition for the word "legacy" in Merriam-Webster is "something that happened in the past or that comes from someone in the past". Swift's second studio album, Fearless, was released in November 2008. Swift wrote seven of the album's songs alone, including two singles, and co-wrote the remaining six with songwriters Liz Rose, John Rich, Colbie Caillat and Hillary Lindsey.[77] She co-produced the album with Nathan Chapman.[77] Musically, it has been said that the record is characterized by "loud, lean guitars and rousing choruses," with the occasional "bit of fiddle and banjo tucked into the mix."[78] The New York Times described Swift as "one of pop's finest songwriters, country's foremost pragmatist and more in touch with her inner life than most adults."[79] The Village Voice felt she displayed "preternatural wisdom and inclusiveness," "masterfully avoiding the typical diarist's pitfalls of trite banality and pseudo-profound bullshit."[80] Rolling Stone described her as "a songwriting savant with an intuitive gift for verse-chorus-bridge architecture" whose "squirmingly intimate and true" songs seemed to be "literally ripped from a suburban girl's diary."[78] Music critic Robert Christgau characterized Swift as "an uncommonly-to-impossibly strong and gifted teenage girl."[81] Swift, who now owned her own management company led by Robert Allen,[82][83] promoted Fearless heavily upon its release. An episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show was dedicated to the album launch and Swift appeared on many other chat shows.[55][84] She communicated with fans using social media platforms such as Twitter and personal video blogs.[55] The lead single from the album, "Love Story", was released in September 2008 and became the second best-selling album of all time, peaking at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[85] Four more singles were released throughout 2008 and 2009: "White Horse", "You Belong with Me", "Fifteen" and "Fearless". "You Belong with Me" was the album's highest-charting single, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.[86] The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Album Chart with sales of 592,304 and has since sold over 8.6 million copies worldwide.[87] It was the top-selling album of 2009 and brought Swift much crossover success.[88]

Swift performing in Los Angeles during the Fearless Tour in 2010 Swift went on her first headlining tour in support of Fearless. As part of the 105-date Fearless Tour, Swift played 90 dates in North America, six dates in Europe, eight dates in Australia and one date in Asia.[89] She sang a cover of Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around... Comes Around" nightly, intertwined with her own "You're Not Sorry".[90] Swift invited John Mayer, Faith Hill and Katy Perry to perform one-off duets with her at various dates during the North American tour, while Justin Bieber, Kellie Pickler and Gloriana were the support acts.[91] The tour was attended by more than 1.1 million fans and grossed over $63 million.[92] Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless, a concert film, was aired on television and later released on DVD and Blu-ray.[93] Swift also performed as a supporting act for Keith Urban's Escape Together World Tour.[94] In addition to tour dates, the singer paid tribute to a number of fellow artists in televised performances. She performed a cover of Alan Jackson's "Drive (For Daddy Gene)" at the CMT Giants: Alan Jackson event, took part in a joint, televised concert with rock band Def Leppard in Nashville, and performed a cover of George Strait's "Run" at a televised ACM event honoring Strait as the Artist of the Decade.[95] Swift sang her song "Fifteen" with Miley Cyrus at the 51st Grammy Awards and performed a self-penned rap skit with T-Pain at the CMT Awards.[96] Swift also recorded a number of side-projects. She released a cover of Tom Petty's "American Girl" through Rhapsody in 2009[97] and made her stage entrance to Petty's recording of the song until 2013.[98] She contributed backing vocals to John Mayer's "Half of My Heart", a single featured on his fourth album.[99] She co-wrote and recorded "Best Days of Your Life" with Kellie Pickler[100] and co-wrote two songs for the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack – "You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home" and "Crazier" – with Martin Johnson and Robert Ellis Orrall, respectively.[101] Swift also provided vocals for Boys Like Girls's "Two Is Better Than One", written by Martin Johnson.[102] She contributed two songs – including "Today Was a Fairytale" – to the Valentine's Day soundtrack[103] and recorded a cover of Better Than Ezra's "Breathless" for the Hope for Haiti Now album.[104]

Swift performing in Los Angeles during the Fearless Tour in 2010 Swift became the first country music artist to win an MTV Video Music Award when "You Belong with Me" was named Best Female Video in 2009.[105] Her acceptance speech was interrupted by rapper Kanye West, who had been involved in a number of other award show incidents.[106] In the event's press room, Swift, a fan of West's music,[107] said that she did not have "any hard feelings" toward him.[108][109] The incident received much media attention and inspired many Internet memes.[110] A few days later, Swift told an interviewer that West offered her a personal apology, which she accepted: "He was very sincere."[105] She refused to discuss the incident in subsequent interviews so as not to make a "bigger deal" of it: "It happened on TV, so everybody saw what happened ... It's not something I feel like we need to keep talking about."[111] It has been said that the incident and subsequent media attention turned Swift into "a bona-fide mainstream celebrity."[112]

Swift won four Grammy Awards in 2010, from a total of eight nominations.[113] Fearless was named Album of the Year and Best Country Album, while "White Horse" was named Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance.[114] She was the youngest ever artist to win Album of the Year.[115] During the ceremony, Swift sang "Rhiannon" and "You Belong with Me" with Stevie Nicks. Her vocal performance received negative reviews and sparked a widespread media backlash.[112][116] Her vocals were described variously as "badly off-key," "strikingly bad" and "incredibly wretched."[117][118] While The New York Times found it "refreshing to see someone so gifted make the occasional flub" and described Swift as "the most important new pop star of the past few years,"[115] music analyst Bob Lefsetz predicted that her career would end "overnight." He publicly appealed to Swift's father to hire a "crisis publicity agent" to manage the story because "Taylor's too young and dumb to understand the mistake she made."[119][120] Stevie Nicks, writing in Time, defended the singer: "Taylor reminds me of myself in her determination and her childlike nature. It's an innocence that's so special and so rare. This girl writes the songs that make the whole world sing, like Neil Diamond or Elton John ... The female rock-'n'-roll-country-pop songwriter is back, and her name is Taylor Swift. And it's women like her who are going to save the music business."[121] Fearless won many other accolades and has become the most awarded album in country music history.[122] Swift became the youngest ever artist and one of only six women to be named Entertainer of the Year by the Country Music Association.[123] Fearless also won the Association's Album of the Year award.[123] Swift was the youngest ever artist to win the Academy of Country Music's Album of the Year honor.[124] The American Music Awards honored Swift with Artist of the Year and Favorite Country Album plaudits.[125] She was awarded the Hal David Starlight Award by the Songwriters Hall of Fame[126] and was named Songwriter/Artist of the Year by the Nashville Songwriters Association.[127] Billboard named her 2009's Artist of the Year.[128] Swift was included in Time's annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in 2010.[129]

She is 24. 1989 + 24 = 2013. Her birthday is in December, then she will be 25. 1989 + 26 = 2015. That doesn't make any sense. 2015 hasn't happened yet. 1991 + 24 also is 2015.

The infobox picture of Taylor is outdated. I think we should think about replacing the image with a new one. Thanks, WikiImprovment78 (talk) 21:20, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

The current infobox image is from last year and Swift has not changed drastically in appearance since then. I would not call it outdated. That being said, if you have suggestions for a different image, please provide some from Commons:Category:Taylor Swift. –Chase (talk / contribs) 20:43, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Singer-songwriter?

Let's get the ball rolling on this one. Is Swift a singer-songwriter? I say yes. Rolling Stone, The Seattle Times, The Telegraph, Slate and Businessweek are among the sources that call her such. And truthfully, I don't get the opposition to calling her one. -- Calidum 05:41, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

I would have to agree with you. She writes her songs, and performs them as well. Also, I have seen artists such as Drake Bell being considered a singer-songwriter, and he performs the same way Swift does, with instruments, vocals, and he writes his own songs. -- Joseph Prasad (talk) 07:11, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes, as far I know Swift is considered as a singer songwriter. I've seen media describing her as a singer-songwriter. It's accurate as she composes her own music. For example Love Story, Red and Begin Again.--Chamith (talk) 11:42, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Per the article, Swift has spoken in favor of gay rights on Larry King on in Seventeen and recorded a PSA. Her song Mean is interpreted by some as being about gay rights although that is mentioned nowhere in the actual song article which instead focuses on negative critical reviews as being the subject matter. I don't share the same concern about including this information in the article as a previous editor did but, if you look at the other people in this category, the LGBT activism is more detailed and more central than this article. Therefore, I removed the category until if and when more supporting content is added. RevelationDirect (talk) 06:17, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

'Oppose inclusion' as not important enough, covered elsewhere. -- AstroU (talk) 20:00, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
I also Oppose, as it is not notable enough, and Swift has explicitly stated that she avoids influencing people politically. Regards,--Soulparadox (talk) 07:51, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Requesting consensus on alteration on 'Life and career' section

I am requesting the following changes to be made to the 'Life and Career' section of this page. I have included a reliable source at the end of my request:

Please change "At the age of twelve, Swift was shown by a computer repairman how to play three chords on a guitar, inspiring her to write her first song, "Lucky You."[29] She had previously won a national poetry contest with a poem titled "Monster in My Closet," but now began to focus on songwriting.[30]"

to:

"In 2002, at the age of twelve, Swift was introduced to local musician and computer technician Ronnie Cremer, whose brother ran Berks Youth Theatre Academy. Cremer was approached by his brother and the Swifts, who asked if he would record a demo for Taylor. According to Cremer, "The first time I heard of Taylor, my brother had a theater company. They would have parties after the show, and they would do karaoke." Ronnie continues: "I only met Taylor face-to-face in 2002. I had a shop up in Leesport. It was a computer shop, and that’s where I had my little studio. My brother brought Taylor and her mom and her brother over and introduced me, and said, ‘would you be interested in recording a demo?’ It was a couple cover songs. I recorded the demo for her. It wasn't a great demo, but it was a demo. After I did the demo, I was approached again by my brother, and by Andrea Swift. ‘Would I be interested in giving guitar lessons for Taylor? We’re trying to teach her how to play country music.’ I said, ‘I don’t know if I can teach country music. I don’t know the first thing about country music. I know rock music.’ But eventually we did get together. They came out to my place once, but from there on in we met at her house in Wyomissing." And from there, Ronnie says, they continued working, two evenings a week, $32 per hour. Taylor kept at it, and they began working with Ableton Live, a computer program useful for songwriting and recording. This inspired her to write her first song, "Lucky You."[29] She had previously won a national poetry contest with a poem titled "Monster in My Closet," but now began to focus on songwriting.[30]",

Ethos section

I think this section is unncecessary. It's relevant that Swift opposed Spotify in the 1989 era and it is therefore mentioned in that section, as is her WSJ op-ed outlining her reasons. The quotes are excessive and unnecessary in my opinion. What crucial piece of information is included in the Ethos section that is not included in the existing sentence?: "Swift also spoke out against free music streaming websites in a Wall Street Journal op-ed and later removed her entire catalog—with the exception of a single song—from Spotify." If for example, Swift's opposition has an impact on the way music is consumed, maybe then it would warrant a section. As things currently stand, it's just a thing she did while promoting 1989 and hasn't had any wider reprecussions as of now. Popeye191 (talk) 15:32, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

It is incorrect to merely label her ethos regarding the continually disrupted music industry as "it's just a thing she did while promoting 1989," as not only does the action precede 1989, but Swift has appeared on the cover of Timemagazine—in addition to her op-ed being published in the Wall Street Journal, which is another notable publication—for the influence that she continues to exert on the direction of a industry that has been in flux ever since the introduction of Internet technology. The section is about her "artistry," which refers to an artist's creative skill or ability, so I will move it to the "Impact and recognition" section; however, can someone explain the "Public image" section under "Artistry"? If there are no responses, I will revise this section. Regards,--Soulparadox (talk) 02:24, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Swift's reasons for moving to New York

Removed the following from the page:

Swift disclosed her perception of New York City before she purchased the Tribeca penthouse in a September 2014 interview: "I was so intimidated by this city [New York City] for so long ... It's so big, with so many people. I thought I would never be able to make it here, because I wasn't something enough—bold enough, brave enough to take on this huge city in all of its blaring honesty. And then at a certain point I just thought, "I'm ready." In January 2015, Swift explained that her relocation to New York City was solely her decision, and along with her decision to cut her hair and record a pop album (1989), she was "very proud" of the autonomy that underpinned the change of residence. Swift asserted: "There was absolutely no-one else influencing me."

It's sufficient to note that she bought a house in New York. Readers can deduce that she likes the city. Info about her hair cut is for a celebrity gossip site and I don't think we need clarification that it was her decision—who thought otherwise?Popeye191 (talk) 15:50, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

@Popeye191: You have already mentioned on my Talk page that you are a fan of Swift, that your behavior might come across as controlling, and that you contributed to the page's development, so it is also important for you to ask questions of contributors before making presumptions. As you are probably aware, intent and meaning are easily lost in text, so please use Talk pages to find out what copyeditors are trying to do, rather than immediately reverting because you feel that you are the ultimate guardian of a page—Wikipedia is collaborative and participants need to learn the value of letting go when it comes to pages they have spent a lot of time on. The reason for the inclusion of the aforementioned content is not merely to disseminate gossip or remind the world that Swift chose to move to New York City—if you read the original interview and comprehend my correspondence to you on this matter, you will see that it is related to a significant turning point in her career and personal life, whereby she is leading her massive personal brand in an autonomous manner—the change has led to numerous media articles in notable publications like Inc., which discuss the business practices and artistic decisions that have been influenced by it. This is the first time that it has occurred in Swift's career and the transition to New York is a significant aspect of the change, as it is representative of her overall shift to autonomy—other key symbols are the musical style on the fifth album, the parting of ways with her former backing band, her new collaborators, and her attitude toward relationships. I repeat: Swift is one of the most prominent artists in the global music industry in 2015; she is not merely an obscure artist who is popular in one location. If you sit back and allow the article to evolve without laying your heavy editing hand on it every step of the way, then you will see that it can develop in a collaborative manner. Thanks. Regards,--Soulparadox (talk) 02:43, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Details of 1989 support acts

I removed any reference to the dates they were playing or which venues they'd be at. It's more suited to the tour's page. Sufficient here to note that they were chosen by Swift and are therefore indicative of her taste/ what she wants to be alligned with Popeye191 (talk) 15:43, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

If you are going to bother discussing such changes on the Talk page, then it would be helpful if you refer to relevant guidelines or notable examples. I will edit the content accordingly, as we have already discussed that you do not control this page. Does that make sense? Regards,--Soulparadox (talk) 02:46, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

This is a collaborative page

I have already discussed this with @Popeye191:, but this is a Wikipedia page—it is not a page for Taylor Swift fans to exert their control because they feel some sense of ownership over the popular artist's identity and musical output. If reasonable consensus emerges regarding the development of the article, and what is suitable and what is not, then I am content to abide accordingly—as is anyone who contributes to Wikipedia in line with the guiding principles of the platform—but that is what Talk-page discussion is for. No-one controls or owns this page, and this is the case regardless of the magnitude of one's contribution in the past. This is just one page of a massive encyclopedic resource, so there are many other articles to also contribute to. I encourage everyone to broaden their horizons and treat this page with the respect that is accorded to all Wikipedia articles. Thanks. Regards,--Soulparadox (talk) 03:02, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Litigation

Since the release of her fifth studio album, 1989 Swift filed a total of 37 trademark requests for lyrics to her songs. Some include “this sick beat”, “nice to meet you, where you been”, “party like it’s 1989”, “could show you incredible things”, etc. The idea behind trademarking the lyrics would give Taylor Swift the ability to use such lines for merchandise and be sure that third party vendors could not rip off her intellectual property. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kate2bb3 (talkcontribs) 20:08, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Taylor Swift in Spider-Man Movies

Should the wiki reference the fan campaign to get Taylor Swift the role of Spider-Gwen (an alternate universe version of Gwen Stacy where she gets spider powers instead of Spider-Man)? It's sparking a lot of interest in the comics community.

[1]

No, it's just a fan thing. There was talk of Drake Bell and Logan Lerman as Spider-Man, it is not there. Fan rumors should not be referenced in an article. -- Joseph Prasad (talk) 23:02, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Relationships

Are we going to document every single relationship Swift has? How is a three month relationship important to her life? I can understand including relationships if there's more than "Swift went out with x for y months" but we're not People. --NeilN talk to me 22:54, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

You said it yourself: "However Swift uses her relationships for material for her songs. Therefore they have a sourced impact on her life." She never says who the song is about so do not expect it.[2] 84.228.26.74 (talk) 08:41, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
But that means we write "Swift uses her relationships for material for her songs." not "Swift uses her relationships for material for her songs and here is a list of all of them." --NeilN talk to me 13:59, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
I think that listing here all of her relationships is important because of the intense media coverage of them, not only from the gossip side but also because of the hints in her songs about these relationships. A lot of reviewers are trying to find a match between a song and a specific relationship (some are pretty clear like "Dear John" and some are not). Another reason, maybe even more important, is the public image of Swift as a "serial dater", an image that she's trying to get rid of in the last couple of years. Listing the relationships is a "proof" of that image, for the the reader to decide whether 5-6 relationships in 7 years are a lot or not. In conclusion, I think Swift's case is unique, and should not be applied to other articles. In most cases, only long, significant relationships should be mentioned. But that is just my opinion - see Angelina Jolie (FA). 84.228.26.74 (talk) 17:53, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
There may be significant media coverage, but that's because of how big of star she is. Everyone want's to know who she's dating. And even though a few songs she has admitted to, in an interview, (can't remember what it was at the moment) she did say it was interpretation, what people thought she was writing about for most of the songs, she never confirmed it. I don't think someone such as Taylor Lautner would be important. -- Joseph Prasad (talk) 21:23, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Everything she does has intense media scrutiny. Right now, I can pull up ~25 articles about her blow drying her cat yesterday. WP:10YT is a good rule of thumb to follow with these types of articles. --NeilN talk to me 22:44, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

There is a significant media coverage, "because of how big of star she is" and "Everyone want's to know who she's dating", but in her case, this is not the reason for including the relationships in the article. The importance of her relationships is the fact that they are part of her work. Therefore they are significant even though most of them were short, relatively.
As long as I know, she never admitted who the song is about in an interview (see ref). That's "because these are real people. You try to give insight as to where you were coming from as a writer without completely throwing somebody under the bus." Critics have speculated that "Back To December" was about Lautner. What is your importance scale?
About the Recentism and 10YT. Well, "only" 7 years have past and yet these relationships are mentioned. See [3][4][5][6]. Taylor drying her cat won't be there next week.
And please make a reference to the my other argument from earlier today. Thank you, 84.228.26.74 (talk) 23:22, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Again, it is speculation, which is not to be put in article, and she has admitted to some of her songwriting about past relationships, which is proof those can be included. But, ones where there is no proof that is was part of her work in any way does not warrant a mention. Especially if the relationship was only for a couple of months. -- Joseph Prasad (talk) 23:43, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
She never admitted that X song is about Y relationship. At least that what she said. At most, she said that some of her songs are about her relationships (she is usually careful about those things). So, include them all or exclude them all. 84.228.26.74 (talk) 00:01, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
Actually, she did admit a song was about Harry Styles (can't remember which one), but regardless, let's take Taylor Lautner's page as an example. I removed everything except for the seven year relationship. Three month relationships don't belong, only when that specific relationship is notable, and/or at least has lasted a year, maybe two. -- Joseph Prasad (talk) 00:08, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
This is Taylor Swift talk page, not Taylor Lautner's, you should discuss it there because it is a major edit. I already said that I agree that generally short-term relationships don't belong in an article, and that this case is one of the exceptions. If you think that she admitted that one of her songs is about Harry Styles, find a source for that. Right now we only have her saying that she never does such a thing. 84.228.26.74 (talk) 00:33, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
