To-do list for Tau Delta Phi:

National dormancy, and rebirth
[edit]I understand this may be sensitive. Yet I think an interesting topic for a paragraph in the history section would be to talk about the near-collapse of the fraternity in the early 1990s, why this occurred, what sparked the renewal, and the rather impressive efforts undertaken by alumni to rebuild. I know there have been difficulties along the way, but there is a lot to be proud of in the rebirth. Jax MN (talk) 22:11, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
- I note that the 20th edition of Baird's includes the fraternity among both the active NIC groups in section III, and among the dormant fraternities in section VIII. (pages noted in the reference in the main article.) The text for the dormant section notes that the fraternity withered into dormancy by 1973, but this appears to be in error as several chapters continued activity, per the later published online Baird's Archive. Yet there is the matter of possible dormancy or near-dormancy in the early 1990's. Unraveling this would be an interesting contribution to the history section. - The closure period may have been more prolonged than I had previously thought. The Baird's Archivist just told me that "The fraternity basically closed sometime during the 1970s and barely existed until a group refounded it in the early 1990s. If you look at the dates there weren’t but a couple chapters in the New York area that existed during that period. They were dropped by NIC, Baird’s, etc. & listed as inactive. Hopefully someone retained the records somewhere. Some of the other Jewish groups donated their materials to the Jewish Historical Society in NYC but they had practically nothing from Tau Delta when I visited there." Meanwhile, I have been able to build out this page, finding some further clarity on the list of chapters. I wrote to the Tau Delt National office seeking a few missing dates, and asking a few other points, and will update the page with what they send me. Jax MN (talk) 20:31, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
Omicron Alpha Tau
[edit]There is a discrepancy regarding how many of Omicron Alpha Tau's chapters merged into Tau Delta Phi. As of August 1, 2022, the ΟΑΤ list of chapters notes "at least two" merging, forming entirely new chapters, including Cornell and Rutgers. The NYU chapter may have joined with the existing Tau Delta Phi chapter there. But other references note there may have been a fourth. Marquette was mentioned, but I didn't find a record of creation of a Tau Delta Phi chapter there. Jax MN (talk) 22:51, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
