Proposed deletion by User:Curbon7

[edit]

Per WP:NOTNEWS and WP:Not every single thing Donald Trump does deserves an article. - User:Curbon7 08:32, 3 November 2021 (UTC) transposed to talk page by 49.147.242.233 (talk) 11:10, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Merge to Afghanistan (probably to economy) notable but not in its own right. - 49.147.242.233 (talk) 11:10, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Curbon7, I have to respectfully disagree. Keep in mind that this is a new event and could have a bigger impact in the future.
I suggest we give it a few days and see if the subject becomes more notable. If the media picks it up, keep it. If it turns out to be irrelevant, merge it into Economy of Afghanistan. Dunutubble (talk) 14:05, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Creator - I cannot comment on the PROD reasons due to a Post-1992 US Politics T-ban I actively have. To say the least, just found out after having the t-ban for months now that I actually am not allowed to interact or talk about a Wikipedia policy. Weird to say the least, I believe I am allowed to just say I am against a PROD. Elijahandskip (talk) 15:19, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I have asked an admin about what I am allowed to do in this situation. Elijahandskip (talk) 15:35, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think the sentence and its refs should be moved to Taliban#Economic activities and (main) Economy of Afghanistan, both of which provide the historical and modern contexts that give this event significance. This title can redirect to either article. Should it become something with extensive coverage and analysis that it needs to be forked from those articles, it can be addressed at that time. Schazjmd (talk) 15:47, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
+1, was just about to suggest something along those lines. I think we can spare ourselves the trip to AfD in this instance. AngryHarpytalk 15:55, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For the discussion purpose, I got admin clearance to interact with the PROD, so I removed it. If Curbon7 or another editor feel like starting an Afd, they are welcome to, but I think instead of starting an Afd, a move proposal should be initiated. Though, I am not commenting on whether this should be moved or kept as is since I am the creator. Elijahandskip (talk) 19:12, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Elijahandskip, given the context of the comments here, I assume that instead of a move proposal, you meant to refer to a merge proposal. I can't speak for Schazjmd, but in my case, the merge suggestion was intended specifically as a way to avoid needless bureaucracy, as this ban seems like a topic that pretty clearly isn't in need of its own article (yet? not yet? who's to say). In my view, finding a structure for Taliban#Economic activities that doesn't lump everything since 1996 into one and the same section would be more productive. AngryHarpytalk 19:52, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. Mistyped it. I mean a merge proposal not move. My bad. Elijahandskip (talk) 19:55, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Elijahandskip, do you have any objections to the suggested merge? Schazjmd (talk) 20:07, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t and as long as @Curbon7: is ok with it, I think we can merge without any big formality. Elijahandskip (talk) 22:49, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to proceed, since Curbon7 hasn't made an objection (and I don't think it's likely they would have one). Schazjmd (talk) 18:32, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
