Section Rewrites

Apologizes if there is a better place to do this, but I do think the entire '2000s' section should be rewritten. I've done some temporary fixes and changes in the meantime, but a more thorough rewrite would greatly increase the quality of the article. Or do people think just some general tone improvement and citations is enough?

TSV 1860 München Task Force

Ground share confusion

After a decade in the top division, 1860 spectacularly burnt out in the 2003–04 season with a 17th place finish that returned the club to the 2. Bundesliga. Wildmoser made the extremely controversial decision to co-habitate with hated rivals Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena, a move that outraged fans and led to accusations of a sell-out. His downfall came when he and his son Karl-Heinz Wildmoser Jr. were caught in a bribery scandal around the awarding procedure for the contract to build the stadium.

From what I can ascertain from reading the article, had they not already ground-shared for 30 years with Bayern at the Olympiastadion? Needs clarifying. --Jamieli (talk) 22:11, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They did not share grounds with Bayern for the entirety of these thirty years but played at teh old stadium for lengthy periods. Also, the Olympiastadion was owned by the city of Munich, while the Allianz Arena was originally - and controversally - co-owned by the two rival clubs. – User:Kingjeff moved the article to TSV 1860 Munich but I reverted this move on the grounds that the move of a relatively high profile German football article should have consensus, especially when it has been, as much as I can see, at the current name for the duration of the articles existence, 12 years. I also objected to the article being moved while the categories were left at the old name with no effort made to initiate a move. Kingjeff's argument that it should be at the English title has however some merit as it would follow Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sports teams). In regards to my own opinion I'm neutral in regards to the article title, either suits me provided related articles and categories carry the same name. A discussion was started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football but, I fell, the articles talk page is the better location. Calistemon (talk) 08:20, 28 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Support – The naming convention for sports teams states:

The name is used on the English-language section of the club's official website,
The name has been adopted at least by a significant section of the English-language media and it is recognizable,
The name is not easily confused with other clubs' names.

I couldn't find any official english website. Therefore, the first point can't really have any influence in the discussion since they don't have an english website. Here, here, and here are three examples where the media clearly has Munich instead of München. The second point favour the switch. I don't see anything confusing with the switch.
