Organisation of CityRail rollingstock articles

[edit]

Shouldn't there be a common summary article about CityRail sets, and all existing pages named in a standard fashion e.g. by their letter codes or names e.g. V-Set (CityRail) (or DDIU (CityRail)), T-Set (CityRail) (or Tangara (CityRail), Endeavour (CityRail) etc? The current array is pretty messy and there is no table to link them all together as per the CityTrain, Connex Melbourne and other Australian systems. SM247 20:28, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should make the point that the M set is now the most reliable train on the Sydney Network.

Car Numbers

[edit]

Does anyone know the car numbers for the M-sets? I think these should be added to the article if anyone knows them. All the other CityRail sets have the numbers in the articles. I'm talking about the: motor cars N10xx-N10xx and driving trailers D15xx-D15xx. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.122.108.171 (talk) 16:59, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ordered for Olympics?

[edit]

Unless very wrong I recall that these trains were 'hyped-up' as aimed at being in service for the 2000 Olympics, which they missed by years. I think there was also media mention they would have trouble working on the new Chatswood line as it was too steep for them. I think the first point (Olympics) is at least worthy of a mention. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 07:25, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, in the late 1990's, they were being promoted as the "Olympian" class trains. And yes, when introduced, their excessive current-draw meant that they overloaded the electrical supply on the newly-opened section. Thus, the new trains could only be used on the old tracks, and the new tracks could only support the old trains.--Boiler Room 4 (talk) 11:46, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

M set image change

[edit]

G'day! It seems the main image of the M set article has changed, and despite it being higher quality I think it sucks more IMO as I think it looks too dark in my mind, so when I get back to Sydney in January should I attempt on taking a photo of an M set at Bankstown, and put it in both the M set and T6 pages? If so then thanks.

But if you agree the image looks too dark however, then should I revert the image back to the very, very outdated 2007 image for the time being until I am able, or someone takes a better angled photo which is higher quality.

Thanks! B set Automotive Fan 2023 (talk) 05:03, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article has been trash, with its terrible image change, and I need some parts removed, and its image changed back to the 2006 image until we can find a brighter one taken in 2024 or even 2025.
And I'm not a fan of how this person didn't bother to make "the previous trains also targeted M sets" section.
This article IMO is a small mess, but annoys me.
But it's simple for me to change the image, but not the redirect, NO WAY!
Ok, thank you, and if you have any problems, please do reply B set Automotive Fan 2023 (talk) 14:40, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
